"I want you to take care of me, personally," William Thomas II said, his icy gaze locking onto hers. The wheelchair didn't weaken him; if anything, it made the power radiating from him sharper, more dangerous.

Mary Sunshine Nowak squared her shoulders, fighting the storm rising inside her. "If you're going to ask for a favor, Mr. Thomas," she said, her voice sharp as a scalpel, "you shouldn't kidnap the person you're asking it from. And for the record, I'm a doctor, not a babysitter."

A slow, dangerous smile curved his lips. "Be my personal doctor, then," he said, his tone leaving no room for refusal. "I don't take no for an answer, Ms. Nowak."

Mary Sunshine Nowak is brilliant, fearless, and admired by many, but nothing could have prepared her for becoming the personal doctor of William Thomas II, the ruthless billionaire mafia boss.

Because he doesn't know who she truly is. Years ago, William's father ordered the m******e that wiped out her entire clan and disbanded their gang. Mary was the only one who survived, the hidden daughter of a bloodline the Thomas syndicate wanted erased.

This is her secret.

This is her revenge.

But the closer she gets to William, the more her hatred falters. His broken strength pulls at her. His darkness mirrors her own. Every touch, every stare, every forbidden moment threatens the vengeance she has lived for.

Can she destroy the son of the man who slaughtered her family, or will she lose her heart to the enemy she came to ruin?

Chapter 1
"f**k!" William curses as the enemies multiply and he runs out of bullets. "Damn it!" he swears again and speeds up, already inside his sports car when two vans ambush him from different directions. "Boss, we're on our way," his bodyguard Clouds tells him on the phone. "Damn it! You need to hurry, or I'll be dead before you arrive," he replies, tossing his gun onto the enemy's windshield. Then he places his phone in the passenger seat and looks for a street to escape. "I'll probably hunt you all down when I make it out alive tonight," he whispers as he turns into a small alley, blocking the van chasing him. He feels relief when no one follows him anymore. But just as he exits the narrow alley, a motorcycle suddenly appears, and a shot rings out. He ducks instinctively, but the bullet hits his lower abdominal, close to her groin area. He groans and immediately aims his car at the motorcycle, trying to kill the man who shot him. "Where the f**k are you, Cloud?!" he snaps when his bodyguard calls again. He had told Cloud to stay away since he was competing in illegal car races, he didn't want to attract attention. Who would have thought he'd be ambushed? "I'm behind you," Cloud responds. "Good. I'll stop my car; I can't go any further; I got shot," William calmly states, stepping on the brakes. "Boss-" "Get inside and drive to the nearest clinic or hospital," he commands immediately as Cloud arrives outside the car. Cloud quickly gets in and he moves to the passenger seat. By the time they reached the nearest clinic, his men were already gathering. "Bring the best doctor here!" demanded by one of his men. The staff immediately brought a wheelchair and helped him settle in. "Please give us a moment, we have no available doctor at this point-" One of his men quickly grabbed the male nurse by the collar. "What did you say? Wait? Do you know who he is? And did you see how badly injured our boss is?" one of his guards snapped to the male nurse, whose name he didn't even know. "I-I'll get one, right now! Please, don't hurt me!" The staff nurse's plea was cut short. "Too late, you just angered me," the man growled, raising his hand to slap male nurse, but someone suddenly appeared and grabbed the man's hand. "This is a clinic, not a fighting ground. Violence is not tolerated. If you need help, you should ask politely," a beautiful young woman in a white coat stated. "And who are you to lecture me?!" his men, who had harassed the snaff nurse, snapped angrily. The woman smiled, but her eyes were as sharp as knives, capable of cutting through any shield. The next moment, she did something he could never have imagined. "Ahh!!!" The man groaned in pain as she twisted his arm with effortless precision. "I'm the owner of this clinic, and I make the rules. Whoever breaks them receives punishment from me," she declared, her gaze now fixed on him. William didn't know why, but his heart suddenly raced, not from fear, but from something he couldn't name. Mary Sunshine walked toward the man in the wheelchair, who had been watching her closely. "You're the patient, is that right?" she asked calmly, her eyes scanning his face and body. "I am," the man replied shortly. She nodded. "I see. You should discipline your men better-" "How dare you lecture our boss, b***h," one of his subordinates snapped. She turned to him and, without hesitation, slapped him hard enough to make him drop to his knees. "Rule number two: respect is a must. Regardless of status, age, or gender," she said emotionlessly. Then she walked toward the remaining guards. "If any of you dare to threaten me or anyone in this clinic, you will receive the same punishment as him, or worse," she warned, her tone serious and unwavering. When she turned her gaze back to the man in the wheelchair, she found him watching her with amusement glinting in his eyes. "Do you have any objections, Mister?" she asked as she approached him. "No one dares to offend our boss-" one of the guards started, reaching for his gun, but their boss lifted a hand, signaling him to remain calm. A faint smirk curved her lips. The man shifted slightly in his wheelchair, his voice calm yet commanding. "I apologize for their behavior." He held her gaze, a hint of challenge and amusement in his eyes. "Now, can you please get a male doctor to treat me?" he asked, steady but edged with warning. He exhaled slowly, leaning back as though testing her reaction. "He must be skilled enough to handle my injuries without complications..." his voice dropped colder, "...or else he'll lose not only his job, but his head." The man pulled out a cigarette, letting his guard light it for him. He drew in a long drag and exhaled slowly. Her lips twisted in irritation. She lowered her head, lifted her hand, and plucked the cigarette from his mouth. "Smoking is not allowed here. And we don't have any male doctors available. If you want treatment, you shouldn't be so picky," she said firmly, tossing the cigarette into the trash can. Then her gaze locked onto his, piercing and unyielding. "Besides," she added, a teasing smirk curling her lips, "the best doctor is standing right in front of you." "I said, I need a male, not a female," the man stated, his tone unwavering. "Then you'd better find another clinic, or go straight to a private hospital, because we can't provide what you need," she replied, crossing her arms firmly. The man stared at her for a long moment, as if trying to read her thoughts. "If I were you, I wouldn't be picky anymore. Just let me treat you before you bleed out to death," she added, her voice calm but firm, waiting for a response that never came. The man groaned, closing his eyes tightly, then opened them slowly. "Fine! Treat me then," he said, finally conceding, his voice edged with helplessness. A smile curved her lips. "Alright, follow me," she said, turning toward the operating room.
