CHAPTER 06: SUSPICIONS

PRIOR'S POV'

"Sir! I don't know what's going on! This is frame up. I'm not involve with this crime!" patuloy pa rin na depensa ni Bianca sa harap ng mga police.

Tch. If she will continue to act like that, their suspicions will grow.

Hindi naman sa sinasabi kong siya ang salarin, it's just that, why is she making herself defensive?

Well, she doesn't knew that these policemen here are dumb. No, they're not even worthy to call themselves 'police' in this cruel community.

I look at the girl besides me who almost kneel down to beg them not to put her in jail.

What a pitiful sight. I'm sure as hell hindi lang 'yan ang pagdadaanan mo dito. You'll regret entering this world...

"Get up," I said, calmly. Napatingin naman silang dalawa sa akin.

"Hindi pa tapos ang imbestigasyon."

I clench my fist while looking at the police who interrogated her.

"I'm bored. Are you done talking to her? You're just wasting your time. Now let's go," I grabbed Bianca's hand and walks away but the guards immediately put us back on the chair.

I lick my tongue in irritation.

"Fine! Then do it with sense! What made you think that we are the culprit just because of someone's statement that that girl was the last person the victim talked to?"

"Plus there were no such evidences that prove us guilty." I added

"Kaya nga nandito kayo para maimbestigahan kung anong nangyari. Sana makipag-cooperate kayo sa'min," sagot ng police sa'kin, and that made my anger grows.

"Really? Sa pagkakaalam ko, kahit malaman niyo pa kung ano talaga ang totoong nangyari, tatakpan nyo ito katulad ng dati na para bang wala lang ang nangyari. Ya'll were just a damn puppet in this community."

I stared at the police's eyes. I know he recognized me because I've been here before. And I also know that it caught him guard. It hits him, them. Totoong walang kuwenta ang mga pulis sa komunidad na ito.

"What do you mean?" I lifted my stare at the girl who was curious about what I've said - it was all plastered on her face tho.

The police sighs and finally he said, "Okay, since you were just a students, and its late now, pauuwiin ko muna kayo. Kami na lang ang pupunta sa school para magtanong at mag conduct ng investigation. And I do hope for your full cooperation this time. Is that alright?"

"Seryoso po? Sige! Patutunayan ko po sa inyong hindi ako ang salarin." Bianca said in a cheerful voice. Tch.

"Let's go," Pero bago pa kami makalabas ng police station ay biglang dumating si Prison, mukhang nagmamadali siyang pumunta dito dahil hinihingal pa siya.

"Where the damn is she?" Inilibot niya ang kanyang paningin hanggang sa nagtama ang mata namin. Mas lalong sumingkit ang kanyang kilay nang makita ako dito.

"Prison!" Sigaw ni Bianca sa kanya at agad naman itong pumunta sa kinaroroonan namin.

"Anong ginagawa mo dito?" Inosenteng tanong ni Bianca.

"I have ears, Biancs. Kalat na sa buong school ang nangyari."

"So you meant kalat na sa buong school na ako ang tinuturong salarin?" I can feel the sarcasm and hint of anxiety.

"Sort of." He just said. I smirk inside my head. Oh c'mon, Prison tell her your main reason why you rush here all the way.

I bet all I have if that's not gonna happen in three...two...one...

"Let's go. We need to get you the flu vaccine."

Bingo!

Prison grabs her hand and doesn't even mind to acknowledge his older brother's presence.

"Teka lang," Nakita kong natigilan si Bianca sa sinabi ni Prison. "You came all the way here para lang magpa-vaccine?" She lets out a shaky laugh. "Whoa, hindi ba pwedeng ipagpabukas iyan?"

"She's right. You're acting weird right now, Prison." I gritted my teeth while saying his name. He turns at me, "Why do you care? This is my business, not yours so f**k off."

I playfully smile at him and raise my hands upward. "Chill, okay? You're being too obvious here you know." I glance at Bianca.

"Shut up." He said seriously. Then, in just one snap, they dissapear st my sight.

My smile quickly wipe off and I punch the wall near me. "s**t. It's happening again."

The next day was unexpectedly surprising. They were making fun of her, Bianca. Just like now, as we were having our lunch in cafeteria.

"She deserves it!"

"I know right. She looks like an angel but inside, she's a devil."

"I heard she's the suspect."

"Shhh! She might hear you!"

"So what?"

"Dzuh. You could be the next target."

I can't stand their voices anymore. It's too irritating to hear. I got up from my seat, holds my plate in one hand, and walks toward her.

She's very pitiful. I can't stand the sight of her, kneeling in the floor looking damp because of the milk spilled by Mary Rose. Yep, Fatima's sister.

Hindi siya mukhang namatayan. Normally, kapag mayroon kang taong malapit sa iyo na namatay, you should be gloomy, right? But I can't see it on her. She looks like she's enjoying herself bullying the person she accused of her sister's death.

"Kulang pa yan sa ginawa mo sa ate ko! Isn't it right guys?" Tanong niya sa mga kaibigan niya ngunit hindi nila ito sinagot at mukhang natatakot na sa kanya. Who wouldn't? She laughs after what she said and continued, "Ha ha ha, tignan mo nga yang itsura mo ngayon. Malayong malayo sa itsura mo nung una kitang -----"

Ngayon, kitang kita ko na nang malapitan ang kanilang mukha. Mary Rose trailed off, "Prior...."

"What? Continue talking," I said when I stopped in front of Bianca. She's currently blocking my way so I have to stop.

"Prior, stay away from this." I heard Bianca mumbled. Tch, I look at her with the look are-you-out-of-your-mind? I don't care about you, newbie. I just wanted to get the hell out of here. It's too irritating to hear out this drama.

That's the reason why I don't usually eat here in cafeteria. I prefer to study in the library than eating lunch.

"Ano kasi...Okay ka lang ba? My ate, which was your girlfriend, died yesterday..." That brings back my senses what Mary Rose said.

Tch, how could she say the last two words easily? And now, she's concerned about me? Everyone knows I didn't take relationships seriously, so why bother asking how I feel instead of herself? She's her sister for pete's sake.

Now, I eyed her suspiciously.

"You must ask yourself how are you feeling instead of me."

She smiles, "Are you concerned about me?" Man, she do look like a psycho now.

"Mary Rose, is this your self-defense to hide what you truly feel?" tanong bigla ng kanyang kaibigan.

"Oo nga. You never cry after what happened to your sister. If this is your self-defense then, you can lean on us." dagdag pa ng isa.

I'm sorry girls, but I don't think so that's the case.

"I'm okay as long as Prior's concerned about me." She still managed to smile at me.

There was an eerie silence in the cafeteria after she said that.

"Whoaa. I'm getting goosebumps here," said by the girl on the next table. It seems like they are all watching us.

"Let me ask you, Mary Rose." I said, leaning on her while I put my other hand on their table.

She involuntarily nods at me, "You accused her," glancing at Bianca who was still in her place, "---killing your sister just because she was the last person whom she talked to. Am I right?" She nods again.

I straighten my back and looks at her friends, "Kasama niyo ba siya kahapon bago nangyari ang krimen?" I asked them.

"N-No. A-Ang sabi niya may pupuntahan lang siya saglit sa cafeteria."

"What's this, Prior? Are you suspecting me now?" Mary Rose blurted out. She seem dazzled.

"Nope, I'm just clearing things out."

"Okay, fine! Eh ano naman ngayon kung nandoon ako? That's the reason why I accused that b***h kasi siya ang huling tao na nakasama niya."

"Oh c'mon. You were also there. You should accuse yourself too, then?"

That caught her off guard.

"W-What t-the hell? Bakit parang binaliktad mo ang nangyari? I should be the victim here! I lost my sister because of that bitch."

I ignore her.

"Get up." I said to Bianca. She seems shock about what she heard.

"I told you to get up! You're blocking my way." I raised my voice now. She quickly get up and move aside.

Naglakad na ako palabas sa cafeteria with a furious face. I know its ridiculous to think. And to think that these are only possibilities and maybe, just maybe it's only coincidental. But she's her sister, why did she kill her own sister?
