Chapter 6

It was so silent and quite the moment I step my foot this City. I haven't see a lot of people around. In the movies, the city was always been the crowded one but right now it was so lonely and quite. The road is empty and only the vehicles were around. Maybe because I was living in the island.

My eyes darted to the store that I work on. It was closed. Madam Fely said that we will just open the store next week since she also went outside the island.

My feet moved around, looking for store that has a telephone. I turn left in the small road when I sighted a telephone station.

I quickly dialed the number that Oliver made me memorize. It did not even waste a seconds because the moment I put the telephone on my ears I could hear a deep voice. It was a voice came from a man.

"Hello?"

It's broad daylight but why I feel like I'm in a lonely scary road in the night that trying to escape.

"Oliver. Black Coffe. Crimson Island." I said nervously.

"Is he alive?" The man asked.

"Yes." I said, and my eyes shifted when I hear footsteps around.

"Tomorrow, midnight. I will be there with the team. Make sure to keep him safe till tomorrow. I heard footsteps around you. Don't say anything." He said seriously, and before I could respond the telephone already dead.

I took a deep sigh. My hands were shaking while placing the telephone back. I even scared to get out when I tilted my head to see behind and saw three men waiting for me. Maybe I am just too judgemental like maybe they just want to use the telephone too?

I know now how it feels to do something like it's not bad helping someone but it feels like it is. I feel like I'm going crazy doing like this.

I put the telephone down.. The telephone station is a glass window, so everyone could see me here and I could see them. I acted normally.

I look at them naively. Why does everyone around here were looking to that man. What really would the person behind it would gain if they catch that man?

"That's Dito's adopted child." The other man said, with a tattoo on his shoulder. He looks at me like he familiarize me. The others were also looking at me intently. I breathe calmer when I heard Tito's name. I feel like when they know that I was related to Tito Dito they become a little scary. What's with Tito Dito. This the second time I heard Tito's name. I did not know that he is known in the city or maybe because he is an gambler addict.

"Who did you call? Is Dito also have lead to the city man? I heard that Mildred will be helping to Dito haunting that man."

"I-I'm not sure but... they-

" Don't pressure the kid. Maybe she doesn't know yet. " The man said. He was the tallest among them and he has a tattoo on his neck. He nodded while smiling." We'll go ahead. Tell Dito that if he wants we can team up. The more people to search the faster we can catch the man. That's already big money. I'm sure he would love that."

They already left but my feet were still froze.

I was walking but my thoughts wander. There must be something wrong about this island or people around.

I did not notice that I was spacing too much when I realize that I'm already in the middle of the road. And I feel like my world just fell down when I saw a car approaching at me. My brain told me to run but my body was too numb and dumb to stay.

That's when I woke up when I heard a constant horn and quickly jump, and my eyes widened when the car did not stop driving. I thought the car was running away from his responsibility that he almost hit me. The car turn left fast and hit the wall instead.

The car was smoking and J remember that there's a person inside that car. What's with the day today that there's no people around. All the building where even closed. I run unbalance going to the car. I quickly opened it.

My eyes found to the driver seat. The man in a formal attire were sleeping and few drops of blood on his forehead. I roamed my eyes and saw that he's alone.

"Sir? Sir?" I said while tapping his cheek, waking him up. The man slightly open his eyes.

"Sir-

" Ow.." The driver groan in pain. He slowly looked around.

"Sir, let's get out first." I said. He nodded faintly. I hell him and carry his shoulder while going out. I heard the emergency's noise after we successfully get out the car. I watch how the emergency just got here late.

"The ambulance went here late. Should I build emergency station every street." I heard the man jokingly said beside me and that's why my attention shifted towards him and not with the emergency car anymore.

He seems familiar... where did I saw this man?

"What could you suggest Miss? Being the Mayor. I did not notice that we lack of emergency support system." He said, and my mouth dropped when it occurred who is this man.

This man...this man is the mayor?

"Sir Lycan? The Mayor?"

He chuckled.

Our eyes shifted when the emergency personnel went to us, and I heard another siren.

"Even the police went here late. They just arrived after we successfully get out from the danger. I should sermon them." He said seriously while looking ot the police car. My eyes stopped to stare at him.

"My people become rubbish. I should not let this stay like this." He softly whispered.

The police were walking towards us.

"Sir-Mayor?"

The police was shock to see the man standing. They bowed their heads. They moved aside when the ambulance personnel took the Mayor for check up. I don't want to come but the police were taking me, too.

"Sir..." I called softly. The police glance back at me. He chuckled.

"Don't worry Miss I'm not putting you in jail. The Mayor said that he wants to talk to you. You can't go to the ambulance car, that's why were tolling the ambulance." He said, and that made me relax and relieve.

There's so much that happened today.

"Please spare me for being so careless. I almost hit you." He said seriously. He was sitting in the bed while there's a bandage around his left hand.

He looks at me softly. This is my first time after a year to see the Mayor. He is in the middle of twenties. He looks so young, looks so obedient and behave.

"It was me should apologize, Mayor. I did not notice that I was already in the middle of the road. And I... I was the reason that you almost die..."

"No." He said that lifted my eyes to him. "If you're not in the middle of the road and did not brake my car, I wouldn't notice that the brake is broken.

If I hadn’t known earlier maybe more people would have been hurt. I'm glad that it's me and the car who got hit. And you? Are you okay?" He ask, worriedly.

I smile while showing him both my shoulder and my knees.

"I'm fine, Mayor. I thinks it's you that I should ask that. You almost...die.." I said softly.

He give me soft smile.

"Thank you for saving me." He said with sincerity. My eyes stays with him. This is the very first time I have a conversation with a big person. A mayor.

"What could I do for exchange... I mean I want to repay you because if it's not with you, I will surely not be able to open this eyes."

I chuckled while shaking my heads off. "It's okay, Mayor. Your safe and I'm alive that's the important. And...I... I should get going first Mayor.."

"Can I drove you home?" He uttered and my eyes widened. That's already too much. I share the same fault, too. He get off from the bed. "I mean you won't ask for anything, as a sign for being grateful and by just simply drove you home I hope it would not be too much to ask?" He asked, calmly.

My eyes drifted to his cast of bandage to his arm. He chuckled.

"I mean my body guard and I will drove you home. Just let me... this is sign of gratitude for saving me." He said, and I nodded that made him smile.

"What's the date today?" He asked suddenly, and my eyes went to the calendar, that was posted above the table.

"September 16, Mayor." I said looking at him.

"The year?"

"2018?" I said, confused. Does he have amnesia after he hit his car?

"I'm just making sure. Today is September 16, 2018. Today is the day that I met you." He seriously said, and I look at him in surprise.

Even after I came back home, my heart can't rest at peace. about what Mayor had said and about the sudden confusion around me. Even in the table I could hear them talking about it. I was in the sofa while they were in the table, eating together. I pick the remote and lower the volume so that I could hear them.

"You're going back to the casino?" I heard Tita Mildred ask.

"There's no custumer in the casino. Everyone were busy searching the man. That was a big money. They were giving one fifty thousand. " Tito replied.

"What's that Dad?" Dianne asked.

"There's a wanted who went inside the island, Dianne. Everyone were searching that man since it was a big catch. If I will catch that man, we will have one fifty thousand. Your phone is already old dated and we could buy you a expensive ones."

"They give big money Dad once they get that man?"

"Yes, Agatha. That's why if you saw a man, an outsider man walking outside. Call me quickly. And we'll gonna be rich that fast. Once I catch that man, I will demand more money. I could make it half million" Tito Dito said joyfully like he really imagine what's would be living in a bed of roses if he caught that man.

"Crimson is just a small island, Dad, and you could just see that man around. "

"That was the question, Cynthia. It just a small city but it's been two days we haven't seen that guy. And, I was thinking of checking every houses maybe someone hide that guy." Tito said, and my heart beats nervously.

What really did that man do? What if he's a killer? He would not be a wanted if he's not, right?

But... why does surrendering the man's off to them feels so wrong, like my heart can't take the thoughts of him, sending to the person I don't know.

In my hands he is somehow safe but in someone's hand, I don't know what would happen to him.

My eyes shifted to the window. He did not even dared to go out. He was obedient but I was worried more to the gunshot on his stomach. I think there's a bullet there, and I bought medicine for antibiotics.

And I haven't found a chance to give them food because the Salgarino'a family did not even leave the house. Tita Mildred and Tito Dito stayed in their room, while the three sisters Dianne, Agatha and Cynthia stayed inside the house, watching movies while I stayed inside my room.

It's already six in the evening, and my eyes darted to my room. I have to change his bandage and clean his wounds.
