I stepped back and waited for the door to open. I looked down the hallway and saw Jay had just made the turn towards the elevators, out of sight. A sense of panic suddenly washed over me. Should I run after him? Should I call out his name from the top of my lungs and risk causing panic to my neighbors? Or should I just wait and see who comes out my door? I was pretty sure I could handle the situation anyway.
So I stood there and waited until the door was pulled back wide enough for me to see who turned the knob.
"Kuya?" I wondered why he was there. Well not really because he did have the key to my place and was tasked by Tatay to check in on me every now and then but I wondered even more at his surprised and flustered reaction.
