Chapter 1: Vampires
In the town of Lexus, there's a girl named Iredessa, or Ire for short. She's an ordinary girl living happily with her parents in the human-populated town of Lexus.
The morning light greeted this gorgeous girl, as the sunlight struck her face, causing her to squint.
Suddenly, there was a knock on her door. "Oh, my dear, are you awake now? Come on, the food is almost cooked. Tidy your bed and come downstairs," her mother, Amethyst, called out.
"Good morning, Mom and Dad," she greeted her parents with a big smile on her face, brightening up their day.
"Good morning, my dear. How was your sleep?" her father hugged her and guided her to sit at the table.
"Well... It was nice, but-" Before she could continue, her father interrupted her.
"But what?" her father asked.
"Well, I keep having these dreams, or should I say nightmares. In my dreams, there's this woman. I can't see her face, but she's always standing in the middle with her arms wide open, repeatedly saying 'come to me.' The surroundings are dark, but it's not that scary at all," she explained.
"Don't overthink it, my dear. It's just a dream," her mother reassured her.
"Yeah, you're right, Mom," she said, agreeing with her mother.
Early in the morning, after eating, Iredessa would venture into the forest to gather beautiful flowers. She would then turn them into a bouquet to sell at the market.
Sunlight filtering through the leaves created a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow, painting a mystical ambiance that seemed straight out of a fairy tale.
As the flowers gently swayed in the wind, Iredessa carefully picked out the most majestic ones, placing them in her basket.
She hummed happily as she walked out of the forest. However, her joy was abruptly interrupted when she witnessed a man covered in his own blood, taking a bath of red. She gasped, surprised by what she saw. In the distance, she could hear the screams coming from the town.
In a hurry, she ran to check on what was happening in her town, Lexus. In every corner, there was blood. People were running, being chased by someone or something that couldn't be seen by the naked eye.
She went to check on a person to see if they were still alive. To her shock, it was Auntie Nora, one of her neighbors. What shocked her even more was that Auntie Nora's body seemed drained, as though her blood had been sucked.
"Vampires," Ire whispered.
Suddenly, a chill filled the air as if someone was standing behind her. She quickly turned around but found no one there.
"Mom and Dad," she blurted out.
Grabbing her basket, she ran back to their house. While running, she bumped into a woman covered in blood.
"Help me... Please, he's going to kill me," the woman pleaded for assistance.
"What happened here?" she asked the woman.
"Vampires... We've been attacked by vampires," the woman explained, her voice filled with fear.
"That's impossible. It's broad daylight. Vampires would die if that were the case," Ire disagreed, as vampires cannot go out in the daylight.
"Well... That's a lie, young lady, because here I am, alive and not dead," someone uttered. They all turned their heads in the direction of the voice.
"No, it's him. He's a vampire... Run!" the woman exclaimed as she hurriedly ran towards the forest. But before she could step inside, the vampire grabbed her throat and drained the blood from her.
Iredessa stood frozen, trembling in fear, yet remaining strong, not showing any signs of weakness.
"How could this happen? Vampires cannot go out during the daytime," she said, causing the vampire to shift his attention towards her.
"You know nothing, young lady," the vampire said, suddenly appearing in front of Iredessa. "Your blood smells so good... It's tempting."
Iredessa seized the opportunity to run, sprinting as fast as she could to avoid being caught by the vampire. However, the vampire was swift and managed to catch up to her. Sweat poured down Iredessa's face as the vampire grabbed her by the throat.
"Am I going to die now?" was the question racing through Iredessa's mind. But she knew she needed to be strong; she needed to find her parents and make sure they were safe. She struggled to break free from the vampire's grip, but only exhausted herself. Feeling helpless, she remembered her parents and summoned the strength to fight back, managing to escape. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, heading towards their house.
Meanwhile, the vampire stood there in shock, amazed by the unexpected show of strength from a mere human.
