"I'm Miles, Jared's girlfriend." Instead of taking her hand that was extended to her, she couldn't because of the shock. Miles couldn't help but narrow her eyebrows because of what she was acting. "Is there any problem, Miss?" She still didn't answer her because of shock. "Oh, may I know your name, and the reason why are you here in Jared's house?"
Saanvi blinked many times and tried to absorb what was happening. "M-My name is..."
Before she could answer Miles' question, she heard Jared's voice from behind her. When she turned around, she saw him coming down from the stairs. She could see on Jared's face that he was nervous, so he hurried to them.
Jared went next to Miles. "Jared, who is she?" Miles asked while pointing at her.
She also couldn't avoid pointing at herself either. She doesn't know if she's still in the right house because she doesn't seem to be there anymore. She feels that she is a guest in this house, and not the mistress of this house.
Jared looked at her and didn't seem to know what to answer. She was wondering what the young man was acting?
She looked at Miles and smiled. "My name is Saanvi Martinez." She didn't know why she was introducing herself as a Martinez instead of Divinagracia.
Miles' eyebrows almost met at what she said. "Martinez? How are you related to Jared?" Miles looked at Jared with an eye that was asking.
"He's my hus---"
"Cousin." She looked at Jared in wonder. "She's my cousin. Yeah... Saanvi is my cousin." Her jaw almost dropped at what he said. She is his cousin now? How come? "She's just here to live. She and her parents are having a bit of a fight so she begged me to let her live here first." She was confused about what is happening now.
"Oh, is that so?" Miles nodded, then looked at her again. "Nice meeting you, Saanvi."
She couldn't help but smile at her even though she was confused about what was happening.
"Saanvi..." She looked at Jared when he called her name. There was something strange in his voice that she couldn't figure out. "Miles and I are going out tonight, so I will be late. Go to bed early, okay? You should rest and think about what I advised you about you, and your family's matter, okay?"
What is he talking about that family matter? She was so clueless...
He looked at Miles again and smiled. Only now did she see Jared smile like that at other people, especially for girls. The young man never smiled at her like that.
"Let's go, Babe?" He asked Miles. "We might be late for the restaurant we reserved."
"Sure. Bye, Saanvi." She waved at her and she waved back without her senses.
When the two disappeared from her sight, she slapped herself. She realized that what happened was not just a dream. She really did meet a girl named Miles, and what was even more surprising was that she introduced herself as Jared's girlfriend.
She covered her own mouth because of shock. She couldn't believe that that grumpy man had a girlfriend, and what was even more surprising was that he introduced her to Miles as his cousin, and his wife. What the hell is just happening?
If the young man really had a girlfriend, why did he agree to marry her sister? Could this be the reason why Ashley suddenly disappeared, and retreated from the marriage? Her sister couldn't accept that the young man had another woman, so she left?
Her suspicions were right. Her sister wouldn't leave without a reason. Now she knows why her sister left, and retreats from the marriage. That cheater, and two-timers, damn man!
SAANVI yawned while going down from the stairs. She didn't sleep well last night because she was thinking about what happened last night. She was already tired from work, but that scene was the only thing she would encounter when she got home. She feels like what happened yesterday was just a dream. Oh, no. It was like a nightmare to her.
She stopped walking when she saw Jared at the dining table preparing food for the two of them. He looked at her also when he felt her presence.
"Good morning," he greeted her. The Jared he saw yesterday was no longer the same as he was smiling at Miles.
"Good morning," she also greeted him even though she felt a little awkward.
"Let's eat?" She just nodded in response.
She also sat down, and started eating. She also has to hurry because she is going to work.
They were halfway through their meal when Jared spoke. "About yesterday." Saanvi looked at him. "I want to explain it to you."
She laughed a little, and drank some water before she spoke, "There's no need to explain, Jared. I promised you that I wouldn't interfere in your life and you're going to do the same as mine, so whatever happened yesterday let's forget about it."
She heard him sigh. Jared put his utensil down, and looked at her. "I know what our agreement is, but I just want you to know that I didn't plan to keep anything from you about Miles and I. I also want you to know because we are now friends, and we are helping each other through our situation."
Because in the past few days, she and Jared have been together under the same roof, they have become friends. She cooked him breakfast, while Jared cooked her dinner. There is no problem with them. She just couldn't help but feel hurt because she thought that they were friends already, and thought that she was getting to know him little by little, but she was wrong. He was keeping a huge secret, and that was his relationship with Miles.
She stared at him seriously. "Tell me the truth, Jared, is Miles the reason why Ashley left? That's why she backed out of the marriage?"
"What?" Jared frowned. "I don't know the reason why she left, okay? But she knew about Miles and me all along because I told her." He blows a heavy sight. "Miles is my long-time girlfriend. I love her, and I want to marry her, but I can't because of our family's agreement, and my parents don't like her."
"Why do they not like Miles? She seems to be nice."
"Miles is indeed a nice person, that's why I don't understand why my parents don't like her." He sighed again. "If only they would give Miles a chance to show that she deserves me, but they didn't."
"But you didn't tell her that you were married or about our family plan?" He shook his head in response. "Why?"
"I don't want her to know because I know that she will be hurt."
"But don't you think it will hurt her even more if she finds out about us from others? We can't tell what will happen tomorrow."
She doesn't know, but she feels pity for Jared, especially seeing that he really loves Miles very much, and he doesn't like what is happening in his life now.
He bowed. "I'll tell her, but I'm just looking for a perfect time." He looked at her, and took her hand. "Please, Saanvi, just pretend that you are my cousin. I really don't want to hurt Miles. I love her so much."
She stared at him. Even though she is hurt by what happened to Ashley because someone else loves the man she will marry, she can't blame Jared either. They also cannot dictate their hearts. Why is this the way Jared's grandfather thought of as compensation for saving his grandfather's life? They are the ones who suffer.
"Okay, fine." He smiled at her answer. "Just tell Miles the truth. The sooner, the better. Maybe if she really loves you, she'll accept you, and forgive you." She also blew a heavy sigh. She is also stuck in this problem. "I just don't want to get stuck in your mess. I don't want any trouble, Jared."
"No, Saanvi." He squeezed her hand. "I'll explain the situation to Miles carefully, and that we agree to this plan," he said with a smile.
"What are your plans for now?"
"I will tell her the truth, but not now. I just need the right time, and a little courage."
She nodded. "I hope one day when we're already divorcing, I'm hoping for your happiness and Miles. Wishing that you both get this through together. I know your situation is difficult, Jared, and I'm not in a position to tell you this, but I hope you'll fight for Miles too if you really love her. I know it's also hard, but if you didn't fight for her with your parents. She might suddenly disappear from you, and you'll regret it forever."
He stared at her, causing her to wonder. Jared smiled at her. "I will keep that advice, Saanvi. Thank you."
She felt a little relieved because she was also enlightened about what was happening.
"Good morning, Babe!"
She and Jared were both surprised when they heard Miles' voice who had just entered the house. They immediately withdrew each other's hands because earlier Jared's hand was holding her hand. Miles looked at them in wonder. She just wished that Miles hadn't seen their hands earlier. Her heart was pounding fast.
"What's wrong?" She asked because she and Jared looked away from each other. "What's with the atmosphere?" She looked back and forth between the two of them.
"Am... Nothing, Babe. Saanvi and I are just talking about her problem with her parents." He immediately stood up, walked over to Miles, and kissed her on the cheek. "Anyway, what are you doing here early in the morning? You didn't even text me that you would come."
Miles touched Jared's manly chest while looking at his eyes. "I just wanted to surprise you, and then I wanted to invite you to eat outside for breakfast, but it looks like you're already eating," She said, and looked at the dining table.
She couldn't help being nervous because of Miles' sudden appearance at their house. She felt that they were about to be caught doing something strange even though there was nothing. She just shook her head. This is what it feels like to keep something secret.
"I'm leaving," she said goodbye to the two, and stood up.
"Already?" Jared asked her in surprise. "But you haven't finished eating yet."
Miles looked at the young man, causing her to feel more awkward. "I'm already full, and then I have to go to work because I might be late, Couz," she said with emphasis on the word Couz to make Jared go back into a trance.
"Oh, right... Be careful on your way to your workplace."
She smiled at them. "I will." She looked at Miles. "Bye, Miles."
"Bye, Saanvi. Take care." She nodded at her, and then left completely.
She was sweating when she left the house. It's not hot inside, but she feels hot because she's afraid that Miles might find out about her and Jared's secret.
She just blew out the air she was keeping. She just hopes that before Miles finds out from other people the truth about their relationship, Jared can tell her, so that there will be no trouble. Maybe later Miles will fight with her, and accuse her of keeping her boyfriend who became her husband.
Her life was too chaotic, and she didn't want another problem in life. She just wished that all this would be over so that she could be free.
