Chapter 64

Hinayan na muna namin magbantay si tita kay lola.

"Can we stop by the mall? I promised Brion something." Sabi ko.

"Sure. What does he want?"

"Doctor toys."

I know Louis is tired, but I have to buy it for Brion. Sigurado akong excited na 'yun na umuwi ako dahil sa laruan niya.

That would at least distract him from his lola's case.

Ako ang nag drive kaya sinabihan ko muna si Louis na umidlip, pero ayaw niya talaga. I know he's sleepy 'cause it's been what? Three times he bumped his head to the window.

"It's really fine, Louis. You can sleep."

"I-I'm not sleepy. Don't worry about me."

Hindi ko na siya pinansin. I'm the one who's a bit sleepy. Sobrang ikli ng tulog ko. Gustuhin ko man na pumunta sa psychiatrist na sinasabi ni Gio ay tingin ko hindi na rin ako aabot sa oras.

Oh s**t! Right! My OB. Dapat ngayon ko din 'yun pupuntahan. Bahala na. Baka bukas ko nalang gawin lahat ng mga dapat kong gagawin ngayon.

"Is there something wrong?" Tanong nito.

"No. I'm just thinking of when should I visit my OB and Psychiatrist."

"Psychiatrist?"

"Yes. I've experienced sign of trauma when I was in the club, partying."

Right. I haven't told this to him yet.

"What kind of trauma?"

"Well, A guy bumped into me and it suddenly hits my emotion. Feeling ko ako lang ang mag isa, just how that Mr. Garcia cornered me."

I don't know if I sound really ridicolous right now.

"Should we go today?"

"No... no... I'm kinda tired. Gusto ko lang talaga bilhin yung laruan na pinangako ko kay Brion. I haven't sleep yet. Kanina lang after mo ako tawagan."

"But you arrived at the hospital one and a half hour later. You sure you can drive?"

"Of course. I'm not a weakling." Sabi ko naman.

Dati nga ay pumasok talaga ako sa office ng walang tulog. I was also determined to finish all the papers kaya naman hindi rin ako nakatulog sa office ko.

Nakarating kami sa mall at sa toy store kami kaagad dumeretso. It wasn't that hard to find doctor toys. Sobrang dami nga dito ngayon. I might buy Brion two sets.

Who knows? Maybe he'll like it and be a future doctor. This is what I like about Brion, he just doesn't ask for toys like cars and such. Mostly yung mga laruan niya na ganun ay kusa ko lang binibili sakanya.

Hindi niya hinihingi. Ngayon lang talaga siya nanghingi sa'kin.

"Brion asked for this?"

"Yeah. He was looking at lola's phone. Nakita niya ang picture ni kuya Neil doon. Pinakita niya sa'kin."

Hindi siya nag react. Him and kuya Neil are not in good terms. Kaya nga wala siya dito ngayon at hindi namin nakakausap. It's super rare for him to show up. Hindi ko lang alam kung nasaan na siya ngayon.

"Nag-usap na ba ulit kayo?" Tanong ko.

"No. I don't wish to talk to him."

As what I've expected. Hindi rin naman talaga mauuna makipag ayos itong si Louis. That's far from possible things to happen.

"Why don't you give him a chance--"

"He's not even sorry for what he's done."

Basically, what happened was, kuya Neil caused an accident way back when they were teenagers. Bago pa kami magkakilala ni Louis noon.

Kuya was driving the car and Louis was of course at the front seat. May tiwala siya sa kuya niya dahil sinasabi nito na parang sa arcade lang naman daw mag drive. Syempre Louis was young and will believe his brother.

Umalis silang dalawa sa bahay nila for a roadtrip. Si kuya Neil ang nag drive even though he doesn't even have a license yet.

A truck hit them.

Ilang months noon si Louis sa hospital and so is kuya Neil. But he never visited Louis to say sorry or at least be there for him.

Louis was devastated. Parang wala raw paki ang kuya niya sakanya after what happened. He almost lost his left leg because of that accident.

After nung makalabas siya sa hospital ay nagkita ulit sila ng kuya niya. Kuya Neil wasn't looking at him or at least asked him if he was okay.

The day after they got discharge, his brother left. His mom, tita, said that kuya Neil wanted to go to California to study there.

Pagkatapos ay hindi na sila nag-usap pa.

Kaya nga nagtanong ako kung nakapag usap na ba sila dahil he came back to US when we broke up. Medyo matagal tagal din ang stay niya roon kaya akala ko nagkita man lang sila, but no.

Sabagay, kuya Neil has his own job now so I'm sure he has his own house too. Hindi na siya doon umuuwi sa dating bahay nila Louis.

"So he became a doctor, huh?" Biglang sabi nito.

"Decided to become a doctor after causing an accident is such a cliche."

Hindi na ako nag salita pa. Pumili na ako ng doctor toys ni Brion at binayaran na namin 'yon. I badly want to go home and lay down in bed, pero sigurado ako ay hindi ko kaagad 'yun magagawa.

Sasalubungin ako ni Brion at magkikipaglaro pa sa'min ni Louis ang makulit na bata na 'yon. I can picture his smile. Why is my son so cute? It's hard to resist him.

Nakarating kami sa bahay at agad kaming may nakitang nakasilip sa bintana. Doon nakalagay ang isang sofa. How did he got up in there?

Agad kong pinark ang sasakyan at tumakbo sa loob.

"What happened?" Tanong ni Louis.

Hindi ko siya sinagot. Hinahabol niya lang ako. Pag bukas ko ng pintuan ay tinignan ko ang sofa. Brion really got up there, but his yaya was holding him.

Nakahinga ako ng maluwag. Akala ko naman ay napabayaan siya ng yaya niya. Medyo mataas ang sandalan ng sofa na pinapatungan niya kaya nag alala ako na baka malaglag siya.

"I thought he's gonna fall," Sabi ko.

"Don't worry. Ate Rosette is a reponsible person. She won't just let our child roam inside the house." Sabi ni Louis.

Kaya naman pala hindi siya kinabahan dahil alam niya. I didn't know. I was just worried and panicked.
