Chapter 47

Oh shoot. Agad akong lumiko papunta sa basement parking. I called Gio as I park my car.

“Hello? Katherine?”

“Gio, there’s a lot of reporters outside the building. Kaya mo ba silang paalisin?” Tanong ko.

“Unfortunately, no. They were waiting for you since morning. Sinubukan ko sila paalisin gamit ang security natin, but they keep coming back.”

“But there’s no way they can get inside the office, right?” Tanong ko. “Yes, of course.”

“Okay. I’ll be right up.”

“Are you sure you really want to go back to work?” I sighed. I don’t have any choice.

Lalo lang ako mapapaisip at maalala yung mga nangyari kapag wala akong ginagawa at walang tao sa pilid ko.

“Yes, Gio.” Sabi ko at pinatay ang call dahil paakyat na din ako sa elevator.

As long as those reporters won’t enter my premises, I’m fine with it. Hindi rin naman sila basta basta makakapasok. Pagbukas ng elevator ay bumungad sa’kin si Gio. He escorted me on my way to my office.

“How are things here?” I asked.

“People has a lot of questions. You were so kind to them so I’m sure they’ll come and ask you.” I know.

I’ve been really kind to my employees.

“Can you not let them in my office? I wish to work peacefully. Iwan nalang nila sa’yo yung gusto nilang ibigay.” Sabi ko.

“Yes, of course. I’ll just bring us lunch here at your office para hindi kana lumabas dito.” Sabi niya.

I smiled and said, “Thank you, Gio.”

He just smiled and then leave my office. I know he confessed to me, and he’s still taking things slowly.

He’s not clingy or whatever you called that. He still gives me space to breathe and do my things the way I want to. I filled my table with a lot of paper works.

Some of these are the ones that I fail to make during the four days I was kidn*pped.

Medyo kaunti na nga ito. I suspect that Gio already did some of it. Sobrang busy niya siguro noon dahil ang susunod sa’kin na may authority sa kumpanya ay siya lang naman.

Wala din siyang alam kung nasaan ako. I’m sure he got worried and stressed himself out too. I feel sorry. I checked up my phone and see a lot of messages, but I only viewed Mr. Villanueva’s since he’s my close friend.

Mr. Villanueva:

I heard what happened. How are things going? Do you need any help?

I’m glad I have a friend like him too. I want to meet his wife someday.

Ako:

I’m good. I’m at the office right now, doing the things I left. Thanks though! :)

After that I locked my phone and put it aside. I’m going to finish half of these today. Kaya ko naman, at least that’s what I believe. Kung hindi ay pwede ko naman ituloy bukas.

I yawned and stretch my arms. I didn’t get enough sleep so I don’t have the energy to move anymore. A knock on the door made me look at it. I’m pretty sure it’s Gio.

No one would visit me here as what I’ve advised and told Gio to do aside from him.

“You can enter,” Sabi ko.

Pumasok siya at madami siyang hawak na supot. He smiled at me and said,

“Lunch?” I scoffed and smiled.

I nodded. I’m a bit hungry now too. Nilapag niya ang mga pagkain sa lamesa. Tumayo agad ako para lumipat doon. Oh God. These are yummy!

“Saan mo nabili? I’m not familiar with their brand.” Sabi ko. “It’s a new restaurant. Actually owned by my family.” Sabi niya.

“Oh… you guys are into business to? That’s nice!” “If you want, we can visit there next time.” Sabi niya.

Tumango ako at ngumiti. The food totally changed my mood. Sobrang sarap! I don’t know if I’m exaggerating since I haven’t eaten that much this days, but this is good.

“That was delicious! Your family’s cooking is good. I assume you cook as well?”

Alam mo na, to run the restaurant in the future must be inherited by daughter or son.

“Unfortunately, No.” He chuckled.

“But my sister is a chef so..”

“I see. Kayong dalawa lang ng ate mo ang magkapatid?” I asked.

“No. Apat kami. My other brother and sister is working on UK.” He said.

Ohh... I’m kinda jealous. I want siblings that would totally care for me. Ate Danicah doesn’t care about me. She’s even jealous to my achievements instead of congratulating me.

“Is Danicah your only sister?” He asked.

“Yeah.” I forced a smile. “I assume things aren’t going well with you too.”

Is it that obvious? Tumawa lang ako ng kaunti at tumango. Well, Danicah has visited here and she was so rude. She came here to ask me for money.

Mom is the one who gives ate Danicah’s allowance every month and since mom left the world, of course hindi naman ang pagbigay ng allowance sa kanya ang focus ko.

I have to learn how to run the company, make sure everything is good in house and of course taking care of Brion.

She got so angry that I didn’t give her allowance and she came here to the office to give her money. I didn’t have a choice so I gave her.

Nandoon si Gio nung naganap yun so he insisted that he’ll take care of it every month in case I forgot about it.

Wala ‘yon sa isip ko noon, pero buti nalang nag volunteer siya. Dito nga sa opisina, ang mga hindi ko magawa or matapos ng tamang oras siya ang gumagawa. I’m really thankful to have him as my assistant.

“I think you’ve done enough today,” Sabi ni Gio.

“I didn’t even finish the half of it.”

“It doesn’t have deadlines, so you could take your time.”

I don’t think I can take my time though. I want to be busy and my mind full of thoughts.

“It’s fine. Wala din naman akong gagawin bukod dito.” Sabi ko.

I’m kinda sleepy, but I don’t know. Baka pag hindi ko na kinaya matulog nalang muna ako dito sa sofa.
