Chapter 45

I just smiled at him. “Where you go?” He said. Brion sometimes can’t speak a whole sentence. We all find it cute when he cut his words. He’s still young, yet he can speak words that we can understand quickly. “Mom was away for a business trip. Sorry I forgot to tell you…” Sabi ko. “Miss you… Dad was here earlier…” “I miss you too, Honey. I know. He told me.” I smiled. I wiped the tears from my cheeks. He might notice that I’m crying if I just let my tears fall. “You should sleep again,” I said. “Brion is sleepy mama.” I smile and nodded as I caressed his cheeks. He’s slowly closing his eyes again. He’s young, but he’s acting older than his age. He doesn’t beg us to sleep with him. He sleeps on his own. I stood up when he finally went back to sleep. I can’t sleep like this. I need to drink so that I would feel sleepy. I think I might need to buy sleeping pills. I walk towards the living room, carrying a wine glass and a bottle of wine. I placed it on the table and sat on the couch. My mouth widened. The hell is he doing here? “Why--Akala ko ba uuwi ka pag gumabi na?” “I can’t leave you like that.” He said. “Why? I can handle myself. I’m fine.” He looked at me then looked at the bottle of wine I put on the table. “You don’t look fine to me,” he said. I pouted. Tumayo ako at lilipat sana sa kabilang sofa pero hinawakan niya ako at binalik sa upuan. ”Sit here. I’ll join you.” sabi niya. Hindi na ako nagsalita. It’s better to drink with someone than drinking alone. He stood up to get another wine glass and pour the wine on each. “If it’s okay with you, do you mind telling me what really happened in the last four days?” - I told him what happened. “I’ll make sure that guy won’t go out of prison.” Sabi nito. I hope so. He has no one to support his company anymore considering of what he did to me. I’m sure all of them backed out. Sana ay wala na rin tumulong sakanya. I don’t know about laws, but If I’m not mistaken it could only take years for him to stay in prison then he can get out after. It’s not a lifetime imprisonment. “It was traumatizing. I can still remember everything vividly.” Sabi ko. “Who was the guy who helped you? How did he knew you were there?” He asked. ”Gio, my assistant, hired him. If I’m not mistaken, his name was Spencer.” “Spencer… I see,” Why does he sound like he knows him? Kumunot ng noo ko. “You familar with him?” “N-No, no, It’s just a familiar name.” He’s stuttering. He definitely knows him. Whatever. I’m not going to force him to tell me. I’m sure a lot of people know Spencer because of his job. My alcohol tolerance isn’t that good as you can witness. I looked at the bottle of wine and it’s almost finished. I haven’t seen Louis poured another on his glass after the first pour he did. “Why aren’t you drinking?” I asked. “I’m just here to join you. I’m not a fan of wine, you already know that.” Ah! Right. I was the only one who keeps ordering wine whenever we attend a party and he orders either hard drinks if he’s not the one driving, and light drinks if he drives. He’s pretty responsible, which I like by the way. He always considers me first. I looked at him, why does he look extra today? Am I just drunk or what? ‘Cause he looks damn gorgeous. “Did you workout?” I asked. “I always workout, Katherine.” He said. Sabagay, hindi naman kami palagi nagkikita. Pero dati noong magkasama kami, he doesn’t workout. Nag jojogging siya, oo minsan, pero bihira. “I see.” “Why did you ask?” He said. “Nothing. You look a bit bulky than the last time I saw you.” My eyes are tired and half opened. I leaned on him and just gave up. He stretched his hand out and pour a little amount of wine on my glass. “I think this is enough.” He said. I nodded. “I don’t know how am I able to move on from what happened. I can’t even talk to my own child without crying.” I said. I’m already tearing up again. He pulled me closer to him and let me lean on his shoulder. “Shh…. you’re safe now. I’ll make sure no one will hurt you again.” How can he when he’s leaving and go back to US? Soon enough he’ll leave us. Me and Brion. I don’t know why and what’s happening to me, but I just walk closer to him and kiss him. I miss him so damn much. No matter how much I think of what happened to us, sobrang hirap lang talaga na kalimutan ang lalaki na katulad ni Louis. He did a big part in my life and I don’t think I’ll ever forget that. “Katherine,” He called.
