That Shy Girl

Chapter 8

I waited on the bench near the ice cream vendor outside the mall, fidgetting. The day was bright and just. This Sunday is literally a Sun Day. It is super hot.

Where r u?

Felix texted and told him where i'm at, wearing an oversized sweater and denim shorts. Thinking about clothes, maybe I should change my wardrobe sometime.

My vision suddenly got blocked by two big hands.

"Yeah right, Felix" I said while smiling, but he still didn't remove it. I tapped his hands "Hey"

"Pffft, wrong!" He removed his hands and I turned to look at Chris in black shirt and white shorts.

"Chris! What are you doing here?" I stood up, actually I already feel sweaty.

"I was actually with them" he pointed at the approaching Felix and Martin

"Sorry, they got in my way and wouldn't let me go" embarrassed Felix uttered as he rubbed his nape

I shook my head "Oh no no, it's no big deal"

"What, is this supposed to be a date?" I was stunned at what Martin said last.

"Get lost, Martin. We're here to buy materials" he was looking at Martin with an annoyed look. He slipped both his hands inside his pockets and walked ahead of us.

He probably didn't like the thought of us dating. I was a bit hurt, although it's stupid to feel that way.

I quickly catch up to him

"Uhm, I listed everything we need" I opened my phone and gave it to him "I might missed something"

He scanned the list "Hmm, I was thinking if we could replace construction paper with felt paper"

"Oh it would be perfect for the background! How many should we buy?" I tried imagining it

"Your phone closed" He pushed the power button and my screenlock wallpaper appeared. I snatched it quickly from him.

I am way too shy to let him see me and Lixie's photo.

"Why are you shy? Its actually–"

"Hey, look! They got the new J1s out!" Chris exclaimed loud enough while pressing himself to the glass wall where the black and white Jordans were displayed.

"Dude, I think that's limited" Martin on his side, also eyeing the shoes.

"Let's check it out" Chris excitedly uttered "Hey, you two go ahead. We'll catch up".

We left them and once we got inside the bookstore, I took a basket. We first went to the cartolina and picked out 4 black felt papers, and 2 dandelion.

Felix also picked yellow ones that weren't in the list.

Glue- check!

Construction papers- check!

Assorted colored thumb tacs- check!

Strings and yarns- check!

Glue sticks- check!

We got everything we need, but when I turned, Felix was nowhere. Where did he go?

Oh there he is, picking lots of… popsicle sticks?

"What's that for?" I asked out of curiousity

"Oli's project, she wants me to help her but i'm so full of things to finish. This is the least I can do" Such a good brother

"What kind of project is it?"

"It's for their MAPEH project, they need to build something like a house? Farm? I can't remember so i'll just buy it in case" he dumped all the popsticks and insisted that he carry it.

He also bought those cute tiny animals.

"Wait here for a sec, i'll just grab something" I left him and webt back with a green felt paper, something like a thick wooden textured board. I also grabbed those miniature trees next to the animals.

"What's that for?" He asked

"Is it ok if I help Olivia?" I said. Why am I doing this?

"Uhmm, I'm not sure about that…" My head tilted a little "I mean it would be great but Oli's a bit…"

"Oh, yeah I kinda get it. It'll be awkward for a kid with a stranger"

"No, you're not the problem. Ok, fine but is this really fine with you? Isn't it a bit of a bother?" I shook my head and obviously i'm a bit excited.

We paid for the stuff and got out. How come the two are still not back? I thought they were just gonna check out the shoes, but nevertheless It was just suppposed to be the two of us.

"Let's eat first" he said and led the way to a restaurant

"What do you like?"

"Just fries will do" and he went on to order.

I watched him when it was his turn, the cashier's eyes were gleaming at the sight of the customer. Well, can't argue with that, Felix IS handsome after all.

His friends are handsome too. And speaking of the devil, they just arrived perfectly. Chan carrying a bag, Martin looking bored.

"Jade!" He exclaimed "Sorry we took to long. So, did you guys bought everything?"

"Yep" I showed them the bags

We talked until Felix came back with the tray. He sat beside me. And started digging up the food.

Since we ordered for only the two of us, I shared mine.

"Jade is nice" Chris smiled and I blushed. Why is he acting cute so suddenly? Argh, and what is up with me these days? I kept on noticing stuff.

"Oh yeah, before I forget, Crizel said she wants to meet you tomorrow. I'll send you the details later" Martin said.

"You know you can just talk to her and clear everything to her" I sipped my cold drink, I don't have an idea what theyre talking about. Chris nudged Martin.

What about Crizel?

I looked at Felix, who is busy munching his food. Why isn't he answering Martin?

Maybe there's a problem between the two. I'll mind my own business then.

We finished eating, we parted our ways by two since Felix and my house is not that far. As he mentioned earlier.

We ride a taxi back and he was so quiet all the time

"Are you ok? Why do you look so down?" Is it because of Crizel?

"Just feeling disappointed. But this'll pass" he huffed

"Ok…" We stayed quiet for 5 whole minutes and it was getting more uncomfy.

I opened my phone and went to gallery. I know it's been only a while since Lixie came but my phone is almost gonna burst from her pics.

I giggled when I saw Lixie's epic jump pic

"Look at this" I showed it to him "She jumped but her legs were too short"

I swiped, a blurred pic of her running

"Ghost puppy caught on cam" I joked and Felix chuckled

I swiped and swiped and almost everything was blurred because she never stays still!

"I also have dogs at home, why don't we try letting ghost pup meeting them?" He said as he took my phone from me and swiped the pics

"How many dogs do you have?" I asked

"Just a few. I"ll bring my mom's car tomorrow to fetch you and " he swiped and my pic with lixie came up.

I was wearing a pastel pink shirt, and was doing the wink with peace sign while Lixie's tongue stuck out.

I looked the other direction. Ugh I shouldve hide it before showing him. Now he thinks i'm an awkward girl trying hard to look cute on pics.

"You done yet?" I asked and when I turned my eyes on him, he was covering his smile while looking at my phone.

As soon as I saw my ugly face being licked by the pup, I snatched the phone right away

"Heeeey! I was just starting to have fun" he tried pouting but his eyes are spouting amusement.

I feel a rush of hot sensation in my cheeks "No. You've seen enough". I stuffed the phone in my bag.

"Send me those"

"Oh sure, no pro–"

"The ones with you"

"What? No way, why would I?" Here he is again. Acting like he's interested in me.

"It just looks fun to see, I can use it whenever I get sad" I side glanced at him and he was facing me, still amused.

Well… At least he wasn't down like earlier

"No"

And he pouted again. Argh, does he always do this?
