Chapter 10 - Feelings

1227 Words
Vincent's POV I woke up with a start, trying to remember what had happened the night before. To my surprise, I couldn't really remember what happened after the Awards night, strangely enough, I could only remember going down to the grand hall with Jules. Who lay beside me in the Queen Size Bed and he was sprawled out, and obviously naked. What the f*ck? What happened yesterday? "Jules." I said, clutching my head dahil sa hang over at parang pinupukpok ng kung ano ang ulo ko. I was tapping Jules' cheeks trying to wake him up but to no avail. I sighed and that's when I notice that I am naked too. It took me a while to remember everything. D*mn! Flashback... I was talking with the authors in our sister company when I felt a tap on my arm. When I looked at the person who tapped me in my arms are, I found myself looking at Jules who was smiling at me shyly. We were separated a while ago after the Introduction with Francis, due to the amount of the co-authors who wanted to talk to me and also due to the number of Jules' co-editors who just met him tonight. "Hi," I said. I couldn't really blame him though, the music is on full blast as of now since the party has been in full swing. "Hi, Vince!" Sabi niya. I felt myself smile. "What's wrong?" I asked, feeling the worry I have been feeling a while ago to resurface. "No, nothing's wrong. I just want to borrow the key card to our room real quick. If okay lang?" Tanong niya. He beamed. "Thanks!" Sabi naman niya. "Be careful." Paalala ko sa kaniya. He just gave me a thumbs up. Napailing na lang ako at napangiti, going back to the conversations with the author's group that I am currently engaged in. I watched him leave and went back to talk with the guys again. It was almost 30 minutes later when I found Jules again. I approached him and lead him to sit in one of the chairs. The emcee started announcing the winners. "Grabe, kinakabahan ako para sa iyo!" He exclaimed while looking at me with a wide grin. I noticed him bouncing his knees, a tic when nervous, so I put my left hand to his knee to stop them. He looked down surprised at what I did. "Don't be," I replied, removing my hand from his knees, immediately feeling empty because of the lack of touch. He just smiled and looked towards the stage. After announcing the other winners, the time has come for me to be called. I sighed and prepared myself to go up the stage. "And now, it is what you've all been waiting for!" The emcee announced, making Jules jump a little in his seat, startled. I chuckled. A drumroll started and the emcee paused, before announcing the winner. "Congratulations, Mr. Vincent Alexion Saavedra!" HAHA! I headed towards the stage. The emcee and her partner are waiting for me. I waved a little towards the crowd and they handed me the award, a bouquet of flowers, and a sash that the male emcee help me to wear. "Our Mr. Saavedra will receive the highest award for all authors--The Booker Prize for fiction! Please give him a round of applause!" The crowd goes crazy again. "As you can see on our screen, the book that won this award is titled 'You Picked Me', a great fiction---" the male emcee started explaining the summary of my book, what is it about and all that. I looked in Jules' direction and saw him smiling at me widely, a proud look on his face. I smirked. "Now, it is time for our award-winning author to give his speech." I turned my gaze at the front. Iginiya ako ng lalaking emcee sa gitna and so I stepped forward where the podium is, still holding the bouquet and the award. "Go ahead, Mr. Saavedra. Please start your speech." The female emcee said smiling. I cleared my throat. "Hi, before anything, I just want to thank everyone here who has attended this event with us and for making us have a good time. To the organizers, to the company, and most of all, thank you, Walt for bringing me to where I am today. I wouldn't be here if not for you, so thank you." I started, feeling everyone's eyes on me. I looked at Walter and he's holding his glass of champagne, mouthing "You're welcome, kahit ang cheesy mo pare." He's smirking and I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his antics. Then I turned to look in Jules' direction again, never seeming to fail and follow him. I smiled. "And lastly, I wanted to thank my lovely editor here, Julian Alexander Montemayor. Please stand and wave for me, babe so they could see you." I said, napilitan tuloy siyang tumayo at lumingon sa likod niya and letting them see him and he turned around to face the front. I chuckled because he's blushing and looking at me. "I couldn't have made it here if not for you, so thank you so much. I am so lucky to have you as my editor and as your author, I promise I'll work harder for you to not have any more headaches while dealing with me." I smirked. He shook his head and stuck his tongue out at me. I shook my head. He's so silly! After my speech, I reclaimed my seat beside Jules. He immediately took the trophy and the bouquet. The next thing I know, Jules is already on the stage holding a Newcomer Editor's Award and giving his own speech, although he looked bewildered and is stuttering, he seemed to be so proud and happy that I couldn't really help but also feel the pride blooming in my chest because of his achievement. When he went down the stage and reclaimed his won seat beside me, I took his free hand in mine and whispered the three words that have long lost meaning for me, but that he gave me a new meaning. "I love you, I am so proud of you." I smiled. I took note of his surprise, but the blush is prominent on his face and he looked beautiful. After that, I didn't know what happened but the world faded and I am so happy I couldn't bring myself to care. I love this man. I love Julian Alexander Montemayor. End of Flashback When he woke up, he seems to be disoriented but when he remembered everything that happened, a dawning realization came over his expression and he beamed at me, making me smile.
