Chapter 11: The Wedding

I looked at the bride. She was smiling so bright. I felt my tears fall down to my cheeks. Mararanasan ko na sana yung feeling na nasa gitna ng altar at nakatingin sa lalaking pinakamamahal ko, pero wala eh
Ang naramdaman ko lang? Yung panandaliang saya, yung hindi mapakali at kinakabahan, at ang pinakatumatak lang sa'kin ay yung pain.
I wiped my tears secretly so he won't see. The man in front was crying as he look at his bride. Ganyan din kaya ang reaksyo ni Dane kung sakaling natuloy ang kasal?
I stood up and excused myself. Naramdaman ko ang pagsunod ng tingin sa'kin ni Dane pero nag patuloy ako sa paglalakad. It hurts so bad. Sumisikip ang dibdib ko.
"Ahhh!"I shouted as loud as I can.
Malayo na ako sa venue ng kasal at tahimik na dito, mukhang walang tao.
"Whatever you're going through, you'll pass through it. Move on, Cleo."
Lumingon ako at tama nga ko. Boses niya palang alam na alam ko na. The guy who's comforting me now is also the guy who broke my heart and making my life miserable right now.
Kung alam mo lang Dane... kung alam mo lang.
"Don't you really remember anything?" I asked.
"I don't think we've met before you came to my office, miss." He said.
Ngumiti ako at naramdaman nanaman ang pagdaloy ng luha ko. Nothing is more painful than having someone you love who completely forget about you. He's carrying a white shawl. Pinalupot niya yon sa katawan ko.
"I'm sorry. I wish I could remember you, if ever I'm the guy you're talking about." He said, but he can't look me right in the eye.
So... he's really not pretending. Totoo nga na hindi niya ako maalala.
We went back to the venue at wala ng tao doon. I guess they're at the after wedding party venue. Sumunod ako kay Troy dahil siya ang may alam kung nasaan 'yon.
When we reached the venue may mga sumalubong na kaagad sa kanya. There are a lot of business man-looking.
"Cleo!"
Nilingon ko ang tumawag sa'kin. Chester! Hala oo nga pala! He invited me to sing at the after wedding party!
"All about us and No matter where you are, are you familiar with this songs?"
"Yeah!" Buti nalang at alam ko yung kanta.
Well it's not that hard to know, uso kasi 'yon and I happened to listen to it especially on the radio everyday. The MC called my name and tinignan ko si Dane, he just clapped and nodded. in
While performing I looked at our table and Dane's not there anymore. I can't seem to find him inside. Baka lumabas siya? Sana nagstay man lang siya saglit para mapanood ako.
I sang cheerfully, wearing a big smile kahit na hindi naman ako masaya. Of course this is a wedding party. Hindi ako pwede mag paapekto.
After the performance everyone gave me a round of applause. I step a side a bit for the exposure of the band. Bumaba ako at nahagip ng mata ko si Troy. He's looking at me... and he's walking towards me.
Napawi ang mata ko ng iba ang nahagip ng mata ko. Troy stopped. He knows him right? He should! That guy will hurt him!
Ngumiti ito at nakipag kamay kay Lawrence. He's back... he's really back. Why is he here? He escaped last time and I thought he would never show his face again. Is he here for revenge?
"Cleo..." He said in a low tone when he saw me.
Di ko alam kung nagiilusyon ba ako, but I saw Troy gave a death glare straight to Lawrence.
Nanliit ang aking mata habang tinitignan si Lawrence. He haven't change even a bit, pati ang ugali niya ganoon pa din. He looked at me and smiled like nothing happened in the past. Lumapit ako kay Lawrence at hinila siya palayo kay Troy.
"Can I talk to you? Alone?" I said and looked at Troy.
He looked at me like he's confused. Of course he doesn't know this guy is our enemy.
"Sure!" he said in a most irritating tone.
Hinila ko na siya papaalis doon. Dinala ko siya sa lugar kung saan walang taong makakakita sa'min. I stopped and didn't think twice to punch him on his face.
He smiled as he's lying on the grass. Tinignan ko siya ng masama.
"What the hell do you want, huh?" I said and kicked him on his stomach.
"You think you're still stronger than me?" Tawa nito.
How dare he laugh in my face? He stood up like he didn't felt the punch I gave him. Sinuntok ko ulit siya bago pa siya makatayo. Saan na ang yabang mo Lawrence? Nawala na?
"Anong ginagawa mo kay Dane? Huh?!" Inis kong sabi.
"I didn't do anything." He chuckled and raise both of his hand up.
I swear to every god that I would kill him if I knew he's the reason why Dane is being like this! Now, He's already coughing blood. How can he speak those words so bravely kung hindi niya kaya panindigan? Fight me stupid!
"Why can't he remember me? Panigurado ako may kinalaman ka dito!"Sigaw ko.
"Hindi nga ba talaga?"
He stood up and fixed his tie. Tinignan niya ako and his reflexes was fast, but I'm still faster than him. Nasalo ko ang kamao na dapat ay isusuntok niya sa tiyan ko.
"What are you saying?"
"Naniniwala ka na hindi ka niya maalala? I thought you're smart, princess Cleo? Ano nangyari?" Tawa niya sabay upo sa tabi ng fountain.
His laugh irritates me so much! His face, moves, voice, everything!
"You're manipulating me." I said.
I saw how Troy's trying to remember me. Naramdaman ko na totoo ang pinapakita niya sa'kin. He won't lie to me, won't he?
"Why do you think a boss would bring his assistant in his cousin's wedding? Got any reason?"
Maybe... he's just attracted to me, but that not enough reason to prove that he remembers me. Lawrence turned his back on me and walked away.
If he pretended, then why does he have to be with other girls? Bakit kailangan niya halikan sila sa harapan ko mismo? What is the reason for him to do that kind of s**t?
"Why did he pretend that he doesn't know me then?" I asked.
I'm still not convinced. Knowing Lawrence, you can never tell weather he's telling the truth or not. Lumingon siya at ngumiti.
"Because he's inlove with another woman." he said and walked away.
I watch him walk away as I remember the things he said. Dane love another girl? That's why he left me that day? Why would he ask me for marriage then? I'm so confused now and I don't know how to react to this.
"Cleo? Saan kayo galing ni kuya?" Salubong sa'kin ni Troy pag balik ko.
"Kuya?"
Let's test him. I'll pretend that I still don't know he's lying. Sige Dane. Go ahead and show me what you've got.
