Chapter 12: Lies

He's not reading my mind. Not at all. Maybe because he knows I will caught him easily.
"Yes, he's my brother." He said.
Such a liar.
"Did something happen? Ano pinagusapan niyo?"
Masyadong nag papahalata. Why don't he ask his 'brother' then?
"Uh.. wala naman. May dapat ba kaming pag-usapan?" I raised my eyebrow as I look at him.
"Troy! Man!"
Tumayo ang groom at niyakap siya. Tumungin ako sa bride at nakangiti na ito sa'kin. I smiled back.
"Congrats man," Sabi ni Troy.
"Who's this?" Tanong na lalaki habang tinitignan ako.
"Cleo," I said and handed my hand to introduce myself.
After the introduction and small talk. Finally we're done here. Nauna akong maglakad. I know my way through my cottage.
"Is everything okay?" He asked.
I'm trying not to burst out here. Hindi na ako yung Cleo na basta basta nalang sinasabi yung nararamdaman. I can now control what I can feel.
"Goodnight, Dane."I said.
Tinignan ko siya sa mata. Read my mind. I finally felt him invading my thoughts.
Let's not pretend here anymore, Dane.
"Cleo... please let me explain," He said as I turn around.
Hinawakan niya ang braso ko pero hindi ako nagpahila. No, Dane. Stop the bullshit now. Totoo nga ang sinabi ni Lawrence, he's not lying.
"Ayos lang. Sinabi na sa'kin ni Lawrence. You could've just told me you love another woman."
Sino ba, Dane? Si Aby ba? Or may iba pa? How can he be so good at hiding at hindi ko man lang nalaman 'yon?
"No, please let's talk. Just give me a minute, please..."He said
"We're talking and you're losing your one minute, including me." I said and opened the door.
"I didn't mean-"
"To lie?" Pinanliitan ko siya ng mata.
"f**k your lies, f**k you!" I said and closed the door.
Pumasok na ako at napasandal sa pinto. Tears fall down to my cheeks, Sobrang gusto kong pigilan pero hindi ko talaga kaya. Tears is the most rebel thing, you cannot control it no matter what.
Napatingin ako sa dalawang matanda na nakatingin sa'kin. The f**k?
"Excuse me?" I said.
What is this? They're fixing something on my cabinet. Tinignan ko ang mga maleta na nasa gilid. That's not mine! Wait... did I enter the wrong room? Tinignan ko sa bintana ang katabing cottage and this is really mine!
"Ano po ginagawa niyo dito? Bakit niyo po inaayos ang gamit ko?" I asked.
"Iyo ba 'yon hija? Hala eh ipinamigay namin sa mga pulubi. Ang sabi kasi nung babae eh wala daw nakacheck in dito."
What the actual f**k? Can my day get any worst? Lumabas ako at hindi napigilan na padabog isara ang pinto.
Why would they throw such clothes? Sana binigay nila sa front desk kung sakaling balikan and why would they say na walang tao doon? We clearly booked this cottage! Tinignan ko ang cottage ni Dane pero walang ilaw doon.
How can he sleep after what happened? At umalis talaga siya kaagad ha.
Maybe I could seek help to Chester. Ang kaso, hindi ko alam kung saan siya.
Buti nalang at wala ako masyadong dalang damit at importanteng gamit. Iniwan ko din ang schedule ni Dane sa bahay since this isn't a business trip.
My laptop... s**t. Bumalik ako at kumatok sa pintuan. Agad naman akong pinagbuksan ng matanda. I politely asked if I they saw a laptop and luckily, nandoon pa.
"Argh!"
I kicked the sand and sat on it. Tinignan ko ang dagat. Tiniklop ko ang dalawa kong tuhod at humalukipkip.
"What are you doing here?"
Hindi ko na nilingon ang nagsalita. Obviously it's Dane, boses palang. Naramdaman ko siyang umupo sa tabi ko. He's holding a bottle of alcohol.
"It's dangerous here outside." He said.
"As if I can't handle myself?" Inis kong sabi.
"I know you can, but you can't use powers here." Nakakairita yung prwsensya niya. I badly want to punch him right now.
"I thought you're inside your cottage. Nakabukas ang ilaw."
"Someone's in there."
"What?"
Makareact mas grabe pa sa'kin. Kung sinigurado niya na walang komplikasyon na ganito, edi sana hindi to mangyayari!
"Strangers." I said.
Gusto ko magsumbong, but I want this conversation to end badly. I don't wanna talk to him right now, I'm just being polite.
"Did they hurt you? Nasaan ang gamit mo?"
"They're old people.They donated my things since someone told them walang naka check-in doon."
"Come with me." He said.
Tumayo ako at sinundan siya dahil ayoko din naman matulog sa labas lalo na malamig tapos naka sleeveless pa 'ko.
We stopped at the front desk. The people bowed at him.
"Hi Mr. Villanueva, how may I help you?"
"What happened to cottage 5? I already booked that for 3 days."
"P-Po? May tao po doon?" The girl said, guilty.
"So you're the one who told them that no one's staying in there?"
Tinignan ko siya ng masama. Dane looked at me and gave me the look to stop. It's still their fault. How can she be so careless about this things?
"S-Sorry po!" The girl said and bow her head down.
"Forget it. Can I just book a new cottage near mine?"
"Cottage 6 po kayo 'diba?"
Tumango si Dane. She checked something on the monitor. Oh? May monitor naman pala bakit hindi ginagawa ng maayos yung trabaho nila?
Wait... I left my bag inside Dane's car. Nandoon ang phone, make up at susi ko. Buti nalang pala at bukas ang pinto kanina at may tao doon, kung hindi epic ang walk-out ko.
"I'm sorry sir, pero fully booked pala tayo ngayon. Bakasyon po kasi ngayon at may ikakasal bukas."
"Your service sucks. Mag sara nalang kayo kung ganyan lang din naman ang gagawin niyo." Irap ko.
Yumuko ang babae. Dane hold my hand and pulled me to his back. What? I'm just saying the truth! Nakakainis kasi.
"I'm sorry bago lang po kasi siya dito, pasensya na po talaga." The other guy bowed down as low as possible. Ugh!
"We're really sorry miss, we'll give you a big discount on your next visit."
"If I'm going to visit Palawan again, hindi na ako uulit dito-"
"Thank you miss," Putol ni Dane sa sinabi ko.
Bakit ba? I'm a costumer complaining to their poor service. Ito naman si Dane ayaw pagalitan yung babae. Does she look attractive to him?
Tinignan ako ng masama ni Dane. What? Invading my thoughts again? Umirap ako.
"No choice. Stay in my cottage." He said in a serious tone.
"What?! No!"
"Fine. Choose. You sleep outside or inside?"
I pouted. Wala ako nagawa kung hindi sumama sa kanya. I'll freeze outside and I know he won't stop until I go inside.
