Chapter 44
Dayn’s PoV
Seared scallops with brown butter and lemon pan sauce, creamy lemon chicken piccata, grilled pork spareribs with soda bottle barbecue sauce, cucumber smoothies, and berries and cream for dessert. A shitload of mouthwatering foods for dinner.
“Oh, my f*****g god, bakit wala sila kaninang scallops?” tanong ni Clarene.
“I told you, they only serve this at dinner,” Sxan asked.
The sunflower farm is glowing; every aisle has lights following the path. All lights are warm and subtle, it’s not eye-blinding. I looked up in the sky. There’s this unexplainable feeling I get that only the moon can give. I sighed softly and continued to eat my food.
We really didn’t talk the whole dinner because we were busy indulging and stuffing foods in our stomachs.
“I am—” Clarene burped. “…stuffed.”
I chuckled. “Halata nga, e. Matulog na tayo after?” I asked her. She leaned back to her seat, closed her eyes, sighs while nodding her head slowly.
“Tomorrow is another day to have fun,” she said. She sipped from her glass.
I stood up and went to the bathroom. Clarene is cvery disappointed because she didn’t get to see her guy. She’s marching on our way back to our room, she immediately went straight to our bedroom and laid on the bed open arms.
“Remove your make-up and brush your teeth first!
“Ano ba? Sige mamaya na, hindi naman ako tulog, e,” she said with her eyes closed.
“Hah! Mamaya tulog ka na, e! Stand up!”
I sighed heavily. “I didn’t sign up for a child, lord.” I face palmed then proceeded to clean my face. I changed into a long-sleeved midi white cotton gown para komportable matulog.
“Hey,” Sxan greeted when I opened the door.
“Yes?” I asked him. I wasn’t trying to be rude or anything. I said that with my normal everyday tone.
“Nothing,” he answered while still looking behind me.
Tumango ako sa kaniya. I was about to close the door, but he stopped it with his foot.
He smiles softly, looked into my eyes, and said, “Goodnight, little daisy.” He winked and nuzzled my nose with his index finger.
I scrunched my nose, rolled my eyes, and answered, “You too.” Then shut the door. I leaned against it and a smirk flashed on my face. I scoffed softly then before I went to bed, I fixed Clarene’s sleeping position because if I didn’t, she’s going to wake up on the floor. I also put a blanket over her then turned off her lamp.
I sat on the sofa and made myself comfortable. The scenery outside plus the ambiance, and the breeze are relaxing.
“Can’t sleep?” Napatingin ako sa nagsalita.
It was Sxan leaning against the door’s frame with his hands in her pockets.
I glimpsed at him and asked, “Why are you still awake?”
“Same reason as yours. I can’t sleep. How about you? Is something bothering you?” he asked.
Umiling ako sa kaniya bilang sagot.
“E, ano?”
“Hindi lang talaga ako makatulog,” sagot ko.
“Are you having fun?”
“Yeah, oo naman. I wish I’ve come here sooner. Kung alam ko lang.”
He chuckled. “That’s good to hear. I should’ve brought you here sooner. I though this wasn’t your thing,” he says.
Napatingin ako sa kaniya at kumunot ang noo. “What do you think my things are then?” I asked.
“I thought you were more of an action and troublesome woman, well, you still are, it’s cool actually,” he answered.
I laughed softly and took a sip from my coffee then put it down. I looked at the landscape in front of us.
“That’s right. I hope I could get to know you more. You are an amazing one, Dayn. It’s nice to have you here with me in this trip,” he said.
Napatingin ako sa kaniya. “Wow, that’s new ha,” natatawa kong sabi.
I’m just curious what happened.
“So, did you two find the waiter guy?” he asked.
Oh, my god. God must be hearing what I am thinking. This is a good start to address this issue. It’s not really an issue but more of a chismis.
The guy must be sureally handsome then,” sagot ko.
I was surprised and annoyed at the same time. He could’ve told us earlier where he saw him bka sakaling naabutan pa namin, but he didn’t and decided to just keep it from us.
“Malamang nakita ko,” he answered then rolled his eyes subtly.
“Saan? Noong nagdala kanina?”
Tumango siya. “Yup.”
