I called his name when he started walking towards the alley. Mabilis kong nilakad ang distansya nito mula sa akin. I know he knows I’m waiting for him. I just don’t know why he’s ignoring me. We didn’t fight. Alam kong hindi maganda ang naging huling pagkikita, pero maayos naman ang pakikiusap ko sakanya noon.
Halos patakbo akong lumapit sakanya. I was fighting myself when I held his elbow knowing he might just push or slap it away. Nabuo ang takot sa mga mata ko nang mahawakan ang siko. He stopped walking.
He looked over his shoulder to throw me a cold gaze.
“Verron… mag-usap tayo.”
“I have no time for the talk that you want, Liberty.” His voice was nonchalant, but his eyes were cold.
“Why did you leave?”
He leered at me, like it was the dumbest thing he had ever heard.
