Chapter 1
Chapter 1 The golden lustrous royal crown was positioned over Prince Agarorn’s head. King Argon smiled along with Queen Amira. their only child, the only prince of Caspian was given the title crown prince. When King Argon left his throne, Prince Aragorn would be the king of the palace. The prince smiled, but there’s something bugging his feelings. What if the citizens of Caspians don't like him? What if he can’t be a great king? What if he can’t be like his father? “Let’s take a step outside for the citizens of Caspian to see the newly crowned prince,” King Argon said. Prince Aragorn stood up straight with a feeble smile on his face. Queen Amira, on her right, was also smiling. The three ame out of the palace door. Thousands of citizens were crowded in front of the palace, waiting for the royal family to come out. Some were talking about why they have to go to the palace. Some were curious if there was a special event. Aragorn can see it on their faces. The king raised his hand, capturing the attention of every citizen. He slightly raised his head, looking at the blue sky along with the white clouds. “Everybody is here in front of the palace. As your king…” He looked on their faces, everyone seemed excited for the announcement. “I now proclaim that the only prince of Caspian, Prince Aragorn, is now a crowned prince, which means that he will be the one to rule the palace whenever I gave up my position.” After King Argon talked, he glanced at his son smiling. Prince Aragorn was feeling uneasy but he still smiled genuinely. “As the crown prince of Caspian, I will take the responsibility to take care, protect, and rule the palace along with my might as your future king.” He was smiling while glancing at the faces of the disappointed people in the palace. Why are their faces like that? “Is there any news for today, King Argon?” one of the citizens asked the king. The king shook his head. “This is the only news for all of you that the only prince of our palace is now the crowned prince. We’re all happy for that, right?” No one dared to answer. The answer is so obvious, they aren’t happy. One by one, the citizens disappeared like a bubble, leaving the royal family along with some of their soldiers and servants. When there’s only a few left, they went back to the palace. They climbed on the cobblestone spiral staircase to the King and Queen’s throne and the prince’s room, but the prince still followed the two to their thrones. King Argon’s forehead creased. “Why are you still here, son?” He sat on his golden throne while holding the queen’s soft hand. “The citizens were not happy with my proclamation as the king of the palace. They obviously didn’t like me.” “Why are you thinking that way?” the queen asked in a soft and engaging way. The prince reminisced about what happened earlier. Some were snorting, some were talking while their faces were a mess. Signs of not liking what is happening. “I just see it on their faces.” One of the servants offered the king and queen a cup of tea. They both accepted it and took a sip. “I see,” the king said. “You can’t please anyone to like you. I was also disliked by the citizens back then when I was proclaimed as the crowned prince. Some even expressed their opinion that my late brother should be one to be the crowned prince. Just let them hate you until you’ve proven that you’re a great king.” “I think I’m not.” The queen took a sip of her dusty black tea. “You’re a great prince and you can be a great king.” “Your mother’s right. Anyone can be great on their own.” The prince knelt, falling down on the ground. His tunic laid on the ground. He lowered his head and said, “I want to be better. I want to prove something to them. I want to be great. Can you train me, father? Both physically and mentally.” The king’s jaw dropped for a second, then he smiled. “You know that I’m really busy with my duty as a king. I’m going to send someone to train you.” “Is he someone great, father?” The king nodded. “I bet that I’m going to learn a lot from him. Thank you.” The prince smiled to his both parents before he left the room. Instead of going straight to his bed, he stepped down the spiral stairs and ran outside. He needed some fresh air and scent at this moment. The prince didn’t stop walking even though he’s eye-catching wearing his dark blue tunic and royal crown. The citizens didn’t mind talking to him and they didn’t want to. For them, the prince is not as good as his father and there should be a better king for this palace. Prince Aragorn continued to walk until he arrived at the forest. The forest is covered with silence except for birds living on the old age trees with vivid green leaves. He punched the tree next to him with all of his vigor. He jabbed the tree again when he didn’t feel any pain, but on the third time he stopped. His clenched fists were soaring as if they were beaten by a hard plank for a hundred times. Prince Aragorn slid onto the tree and he sat on the ground. He glanced at the sky and a few minutes from now, the sun will set down. He wasn’t at the shallow part of the forest that’s why he won’t be lost, but he didn’t bring his horse for him to ride on. “Why can’t I be good like my father. I want to be someone like him. I want the citizens of Caspian to love and respect me.” He was about to punch the ground, but his fists were growling sore and he can’t hurt it again. The prince sat there for a few minutes and the sky was already black. He slowly got up from his seat and walked like a drunk man. Before he left the forest, he slightly glanced on his back and saw a blazing light in a distance. Anxiety and fear filled his lungs, bolting away from the forest. What he saw in that forest would be a mystery for him.
