Yellow - Epilogue

"Wow! They're so deep!" Kaden heard the little girl say as she got up on his lap.

He smiled wider, making the dimple on his left cheek dip deeper.

"Are they real?" The little girl asked, poking his face.

Images of his wife, Miara, when they were just preschoolers, in her pigtails and bright eyes, came to his mind. "Yes, that's definitely how our daughter looks." He thought.

"Ofcourse, they're real. They're as real as yours. Same dimple. Same side, hon." He heard Miara say with a smile in her voice.

The image in his mind changed to a little Miara with dimples like his. He smiled as he drew the picture of his daughter in his mind.

"Here, Love." Miara said as she took his hand and led it to their daughter's face.

"What are you doing, Daddy?" Aurora asked as Kaden lined her forehead and touched her eyes.

"This is how Daddy sees, sweetheart." He answered as he felt for her nose, lips, cheeks and jaw. He smiled and said, "I was right. Little Mara with a dimple."

"Her hair is light brown with a few curls and her skin is milky white like yours, Love." Miara added.

He paused for a while as he painted the image in his head. "There. There she is, our beautiful Aurora. You really do look like a sunrise, sweetheart." He said. "Thank you, Love."

Miara walked over to her family and wrapped her arms around them. She took Kaden's hand, held it tight and whispered. "I'm always here, Love. Just hold my hand and listen to my voice. It will be okay. Everything will be okay."

"Me too, Daddy." Aurora confidently declared as she hugged Kaden and snuggled into his arms. 

Kaden smiled at their little girl and dotingly patted her head. He then turned to Miara, raised her hand to his lips and kissed it. He placed the back of her hand on his cheek and smiled because he knew that even though he couldn't see her, she will always be the light of his life who will shine brighter in his world of darkness.
