“You just left without doing anything? No slap, no punch, you didn’t even kick him in the balls!” Brittany’s eyes were burning with such intensity as she looked at her.
The woman was walking all over the place as she waved one hand at her while the other was on her hips like some kind of nagging mother.
She was thankful she wasn’t with her during that time, else she was sure that her friend would have beaten the crap out of Clyde.
“I just wanted to get out of there,” Crystal said still trying to hold her sob down.
Though she was hurt and grieving, there was still a part of her that didn’t want to see Clyde get hurt. And knowing how her friend is well versed in martial arts, she was sure that the man would end up in the hospital.
“I hate to say this, but I told you before didn’t I, that man’s no good.” Brit just shooked her head upon hearing that reply.
“I just thought...I just though…” Crystal wasn’t able to finish what she wanted to say as she felt another lump on her throat upon remembering how Clyde was so distant and unrelenting.
Brittany sighed as she sat beside her, giving her a tight hug. “Oh girl, I’m sorry,” she says while patting her head.
“It was like I was not even there when he got home, like I didn’t even mean anything, after all those years we’ve been together, how could he just throw it all away like that,” she sobbed.
Crystal felt like her heart was going to burst any moment from all the pain that she was feeling just remembering what had happened a while ago.
“What did you expect from that kind of a man,” Brittany burst out, pouting as she spat in disgust.
Crystal ended up hugging back her friend, the ache in her chest was just too much to bare, “Five years, they’ve been together for five years, how did I not notice it,” she cried out, remembering how long the two have been together.
Brittany wasn’t able to answer immediately, she just let her well manicured fingernails brush up into her friends hair as she tried to comfort her.
“Maybe because you were just too drunk in the moment and like you said, so madly in love with him that you got blinded by your own feelings,” the woman finally says after a few moments of silence.
That cause another pang inside her gut, she couldn't deny the fact that he was so enthralled by the mere fact that they were going to get married that she wasn’t able to notice anything, event though all the clues and signs were there.
“Was I that stupid?” she just blurted out as she looked at her friend with swollen and reddining eyes.
Brittany ended up making a face as she backed off a bit from her so that they could see eye to eye.
“With him, yes. It was like no matter what anyone tells you, you always kept looking at his good side no matter how bad it was,” she says rolling her eyes while waving several fingers up in the air.
Though her friend looked funny as she went frantic with her hands while saying those things, she just wasn’t able to laugh the pain away.
“How can I be so stupid,” Crystal sobbed as she smacked her head on the one of the throw pillows.
She just couldn't bare the feeling of remorse, after all that she had done for him and sacrificed in order to keep their relationship. She even lost her virginity to the guy, because she thought he was really the one. Now all she can think of was how naive and stupid she had been all those years.
Brittany sense the pain and agony her friend was goin through. So, with a heavy sigh she again moved beside her to put her in a tight hug.
“It wasn’t your fault, you were just in love,” she say’s in a sweet voice, all the while giving her a good tap on the back to calm down.
She was sobbing for a good time, thinking over and over again where could she have gone wrong in their relationship.
There was the question of wasn’t what she did enough, was there something she did not do or perhaps she done something for that to actually happen. All these things kept running through her mind, until finally she suddenly snapped when she remembered something that had been haunting her for the past hours of her torment.
“Who was that woman anyway. I just can’t understand why he’d choose her over me, we were together for almost nine years!” She screamed, suddenly raging with fury.
There was sudden blaze inside of her that made her ball her fist as she remembered how the two were so sweet together.
“Uhm well,” Brittany was suddenly lost for words as she moved aside. Her face distorted as she looked away from her.
“Why?” Crystals couldn't help but get confused at the sudden changing of her friend reaction.
She gave her friend a glare as she noticed that she wasn’t hiding something from her. She couldn't help but feel anger right now at the thought that her friend knew something that she didn’t.
Brittany felt the chill from those eyes that she had to hold her ground in order not to look like the bad guy, crossing her arms as she sat straight to face her properly, she grimaced as she let out a long sigh.
“You didn’t see her properly did you,” she says biting her lower lips all the while raising one her brows.
Crystal was suddenly dumfounded, “No,” she tried remembering the woman’s face but everything was so blurry that she couldn’t make it out, though she could sense the familiarity like she had seen her before, “I...I didn’t have the time to look at her,” she just says suddenly confused and in disbelief.
“The woman and him basically had a longer relationship than the two of you did,” Brittany said shaking her head like some bob head.
“Huh,” now Crystal was totally flabbergasted at what her friend had said.
Brittany let out a log breath, “The woman he was with,” she says as she pressed her fingers on her temples before looking back at her with a frown, “Her name’s Dana, you know Dana, his ex.”
Everything suddenly froze as she felt her entire body stiffen. She was suddenly lost for breath at the thought of it. Her hear suddenly pulsing faster that he could hear it’s beat within her chest.
Within that moment everything suddenly became much more clearer, like a fog within a glass have been wiped clean.
“What!” Crystal ended up shouting.
Though her eyes sting from all that crying she could not help widening them as she could not process nor hide the shock from all of it. From what she remembered Clyde was so heart broken and angry at that woman that she was sure it would be impossible for them to make up. But now, it seems all of it were not solely true.
“Yup, seems he never really forgot about her,” Brittany winced as she saw how slowly her friend began to shatter again.
“But...But, I thought he had move on, he told me he hated her, he told me...he told me she’d forget about her,” once again Crystal ended up slumping her face unto the pillow.
The pain suddenly became much more intolerable at it kept stabbing and stabbing inside her chest. Her anger towards the woman became that of jealousy. All of a sudden she immediately was lost and distorted from all the lies and truths that came crashing down on her.
“Ugh, c’mon.” Brittany puffed as her shoulders fell upon seeing her friend crumble down into pieces. She could not help but feel helpless for not being able to do anything right now to at least ease her pain, she just ended up hugging her again, “There, there, it’s alright, you don’t deserve that guy anyway, you’re way too good for him,” she tries to say in her sweetest and most warm voice.
“I don’t know what to do anymore,” Crystal cried out as she knew it was really the end.
At first she had thought that she would still be able to save their relationship, that Clyde would suddenly have a change of heart and realized that he really loved her, come back and choose her over that woman. But now that she was against Dana, the woman she knew that Clyde was so madly in love before, there was definitely no winning against that, no matter what she’d do.
Brittany squeezed her friend tighter all the while rocking her back and forth, “Crys, I know it’s going to be hard, but you’ll get over him, it will take time but I’m sure you’ll move on eventually,” she says in a cooing voice, trying to calm her friends nerve.
“But it hurts so much,” Crystal burst out as tears kept streaming down her face.
Realizing everything she had dreamed of, all of the things that she thought would happen in their lives were completely shattered and suddenly blown into the wind like it never happened.
It added to her wound that she ignored the humiliation when their marriage was postponed, she swallowed her pride when people began calling her sugar mommy during the time that he was supporting the man, plus she turned down so many offers for a better job, so that she could focus on taking care of his needs and not making him feel insecure or angry.
Now she really felt stupid and so low from all the wrong decisions that she had made, she was now regretting everything that she ever did during those times she was with the man.
“I know, I know, but it ain’t going to last, you’ll see,” Brittany said again in her most comforting tone.
She gave her a good pat on the head all the while cooing and shushing to calm her nerves.
Crystal tried so much not to cry, but she just wasn’t able to hold on to all the feelings that were boiling up deep inside of her.
“Why can’t I just get him off my mind,” she cried at the top of her lungs.
Not caring if her mouth went dry or her throat was already inflamed from all the not stop shouting and weeping that she has been doing the whole day.
“You know what, f**k this!” Brittany suddenly snapped, she immediately stood up and put her hands on her hips as she faced him with a wide smile, “You want to forget him, then get your ass up girl!” She points at her to do so, giving her a good nudge to move, “There is no point in crying over that piece of s**t! We should be partying!” She says all the while shaking her whole body as if there was music.
That caught Crystal by surprise as she was suddenly holding down her sobs while looking straight at her friend.
“What?” She frowned as the woman grabbed her and then pulled her up.
She wasn’t able to do anything when as the went straight to the bedroom. Suddenly struck by amusement and shock from what was happening, Crystal just fell silent as she watched her friend start rummaging through the closet, throwing clothes out as she began choosing some of them.
Brittany turns to her as she finally managed to pick a nice crop top and a skirt, “We’re going clubbing, didn’t you say you always wanted to go on one of those place with neon lights and mist thingy’s, now’s the chance! And I know just the place to go to!” she grins as she began shoving the clothes at her.
Crystal just looked at the pieces of cloth that she was holding, “I don’t know about this,” she says as she really wasn’t in the mood to actually move at all.
“Just fix yourself up and get dress, we are going to have fun!” Brittany pokes her as once again she begin shaking her hips like some crazed party girl.
