Chapter 56

2560 Words
Donning a black and white made uniform, with a skirt almost halfway to her knee, long black stockings, and a mini size apron, while her hair was let down with half curls, Crystal looked like a man’s erotic fantasy come to life as she served drinks and orders in the specialized cafe, along with other girls. She didn’t mind it at all as she had already achieved the body that she had been working for and she wasn’t that far off from the younger waitresses who were wearing the same thing. “Here’s your order, enjoy,” she cheerfully smiles at the group while placing the set of cold milkshakes. The group of men wearing suit and tie could not help but look at her with very salacious looks, as they seemed to have visited the place just to ogle at the servers. A very clever strategy that her friend came up with to attract high-paying customers to the newly opened place. Not caring to properly look at the men, she quickly turns and walks away, only to be stopped by when strong hands suddenly grab her arms. With a frown on her face, she was ready to give the person a scolding when she turned around, only to be met by a worried yet smiling look on the man’s handsome face. “Crystal? Why are you here, I mean, what happened to your previous job?” Larse had this sweet tone as he said those words. She couldn’t help but smirk at the man. “It’s as of you didn’t know,” she scoffs before pulling away from him. “What’s with the sarcasm,” though a bit hurt the man still tried to keep his smile. “If you really don’t know, why not go ask your wife about it,” she mocks, wanting to make sure to hit the man’s ego. Larse brow creased. “What did Dana do this time?” Crystal shook her head in disbelief, she doesn’t know what kind of trickery the woman was doing but it was really obvious that it worked. “God Larse, I can’t believe you’re as dense and clueless as Clyde is, easily being played by one woman,” she continues to ridicule him, knowing full well how the man hated that and also being compared to someone else. She tried to turn around but was immediately pulled back by the man. “Hey!” Larse face had a very grim look on him after hearing that. His lips were now forming a straight line and his eyes were deadly serious. “Why don’t you just tell me what she did!” he tried to sound calm but his voice was already deep with frustration. “Why, so you can justify her actions like Clyde did.” It was a bold statement she knew, but she just wanted to make sure that the man would get her point. She didn’t want that to happen anymore and she has had enough. She was going to make sure that everyone saw the woman for who she really is. “Why do you keep including your ex on this, I know that he and Dana dated before but why do you keep on bringing it up?” Larse jaw clenched upon mentioning the man. Crystal couldn't help but let out a sigh as again she shook her head. “Now I’m starting to feel bad for you, I just can’t believe you of all people would easily be tricked by that woman. I don’t have the energy to list down every foolish thing that you’ve been doing, since you seem to not care at all anyway. If you’re really a capable man, go find it out yourself. Because I bet Dana already has a very good excuse ready to give to you if the answer would come from me, if you decide to confront her about all this,” she says before finally being able to leave without any hindrance. Seeing as the man was still clueless about what was going on, she knew that she could not get far if she continued trying to help him out. Larse was suddenly lost for words, he just stood there watching as Crystal walk away. After a few minutes of thinking, he just turned around after taking out his phone and making few calls. “You all right miss Cryst? You know you don’t need to do this,” Mary says when she entered the kitchen again. The woman looked livelier and much healthier than before, plus she seemed more confident now that she had a better job there. “Don’t worry, I’m used to this. Besides, I did promise Brit that I’ll help out with things here,” she states not wanting to worry the woman. “Okay, but you really didn’t need to do all of this,” Mary pouted before looking at her whole outfit. Crystal couldn’t help but laugh a bit. “Don’t worry, I just want to compensate for our current manpower. Besides, I’m actually enjoying this. We should be okay by next Monday since the newbies seem to be getting the hang of things,” she assures her. It was her decision to check if their market strategy was working after all, plus she actually wanted to do the work herself to have a better understanding of what the employees might experience if they proceeded with this kind of theme. “Yes you’re right,” Mary ended up nodding in agreement realizing that. “Why don’t you take a break while I managed the register, you’ve also been working non-stop lately,” she playfully makes the woman turn to go to the employee's pantry to make her rest. “Okay, okay!” Mary couldn't help but giggle as she went along with it. An hour had passed and thankfully Larse just left along with his colleagues. She didn’t really want to confront him again as she didn’t want to waste time on someone who was so dense on what was happening. She knew that if the man wanted to, he could easily find out a lot of things about Dana, especially if he uses his money and connections. She decided not to intervene with the couple's relationship, seeing as it would be a waste of time if he would just turn out to be like Clyde. “Good day, may I take your order please,” she quickly states, erasing the thought in her mind as a customer suddenly approached the counter. Quickly taking out a tray and preparing it she waited for a response but was met with silence. Looking up, she then realized the reason for it, making her raise one brow. “May I take your order?” she says with an indifferent tone, seeing the person in front of her. “Can we talk,” the man said in a deep voice. He somehow looked disheveled wearing a denim jacket and pants, his eyes had dark circles and he was thinner than when she left him. It seems things were finally catching up on Clyde after their break-up. She let out a deep sigh as she suddenly lost her jive. “Sir, if you’re not going to order, please move aside because you're obstructing the line,” she tilts her head giving a forced smile. The man quickly looks behind him and seeing the number of people who were waiting decided to move aside. “I’ll wait outside,” he says in a whisper like she actually cared about it. She didn’t answer and just decided to let him leave, not caring at all. She was through with foolish men, no matter who they were. She just continued with her task until it was finally time for closing. “Miss Crystal, he’s been waiting there for you for the last two hours, are you sure we shouldn’t call security?” Mary whispered seeing Clyde still waiting in front of the store. It was only an hour before the closing time and the last customers had already left yet Clyde was still in front of the shop. Staring at them as they were starting to close down for the day. She just rolled her eyes. “Don’t bother with him, he’s not going to do anything I can assure you. I don’t really care if he sleeps there but there is no way I’m wasting any more time with that man,” she says as she continued with checking their sales for the day. “Okay, then I’m going to call miss Brit just in case,” the woman states as she seemed a bit scared seeing as how Clyde looks right now. He was no longer as healthy and neat as he had been a year ago. Making her wonder what could have happened again. “Thanks, Mary,” she just nods thinking that it was the best option right now. She didn’t bother with him even when they were closing up the store she did not as much give him any attention at all. Until finally everyone was saying their goodbyes and going their own way. Crystal picks up her phone as she got a message from her best friend, she smiled seeing as she was already there to pick her up. “What is wrong with you, I’ve been waiting here for hours here,” Clyde hissed as he blocked her way grabbing her arm to make sure she wasn’t able to move. Though the man was a few inches taller than her and holding her, it did not stop her from glaring at him. She was no longer scared of him since she was confident that she could take him on. It just so happens that she was not able to move much since she was holding her bags in one hand and her ice tea in the other. All she could do was raise her eyebrow at him. “And who told you to do that?” she says in a bored tone. “Look here Crys, can’t you just be civilized and forget all about this and just stop making trouble for Dana,” the man growled. Crystal couldn’t help but snort. “Wow, like just wow, are you even hearing yourself right now,” she shook her head just feeling sad for the man. “I mean it Crys! Don’t make things harder than it is already.” Clyde’s eyes looked so crazed and demented while bellowing at her. “And what exactly are you going to do about it, Clyde?” She could not help but smirk. With all the years that they had been together, she was already immune to those empty threats and intimidating lies that the man would use. “Look, can’t you just move on already, It’s already been a year, why can’t you just be happy for me! Is that too much to ask from you.” Larse yelled at the top of his lungs. She almost burst out laughing from just the thought of it. She couldn't believe that the man actually thought that she was still after him. Though she wanted to say something back she wasn’t able to as another person suddenly joined in on them. “Well, well, well. Look who we have here!” It was Brittany standing behind the man, arms folded on her chest as she had this mocking look on her face upon seeing Clyde holding her. That made Clyde let go, quickly turning to the woman while fixing himself. “I’m just here to talk to your friend Brit,” he says in a much calmer voice. “Is that right girl?” Brittany turns to her with a questioning look. “Nope, he’s actually threatening me right now,” she quickly answers without a second thought. Clyde’s eyes grew wide in surprise. “What! You got to be kidding me, you’ve really gone crazy,” he let out an awkward laugh as he started stepping back. “Oh please, will you look at yourself first,” Brittany scoffs while rolling her eyes. Clyde gave the woman a death glare. “Just leave Dana alone, she’s already been gone through so much…” He wasn’t able to finish his words upon being doused in the face as Crystal threw her cold icy drink. That somewhat made the man gape in shock and surprise, especially upon seeing the murderous look on her face. “Oh no Clyde, I can assure you, she hasn’t even begun to experience the same misery that I’ve been through, not even one bit,” Crystal says, lips twitching as her jaw tightened in anger. “Boy, you have quite the balls showing your face here and telling us off,” Brittany added as she started pointing around them. That was when Clyde noticed two security guards along with her best friend's boyfriend watching them just a few meters away. The man was suddenly alarmed seeing that he could be in big trouble. “She started this, don’t think she’s going to get off that easy,” Crystal said in a deep and menacing voice, wanting to make sure that her message would go through to the man's head. “And if we ever see your ass in here, I think you already know what’s going to happen to you,” Brittany smirked as she snapped her finger at him. That quickly cause the man to turn tail and run away from there, knowing full well what her best friend was capable of. Crystal let out a deep sigh of relief after that. “Thanks for the back-up Brit.” It felt like she had been holding her breath for almost a few minutes as she was facing Clyde. “Girl, why don’t you just go and face that woman head-on, so we can just move on with our lives, why make it so complicated,” Brittany scolds as she was really itching for a confrontation. “Just you wait and see, I’ll get there,” she let out a giggle. Seeing as how Dana was going through such lengths right now just made her even more determined to continue with what she had in mind. As it seems the woman was finally starting to be afraid of her. “Oooh girl, you are scaring me,” Brittany shook her head as she too was feeling the same with Crystal's current actions.
