Chapter 1 - Superman

"MOM, I'm okay, I landed safe and sound." Wevz made sure of her mom. Oh! Her parents are really like this, they are very concerned about her. Most especially her mother.

"Okay, take good care baby and always keep us up to date, okay? I love you." Her mother told her.

She sighed deeply. "Okay Mom, bye, love you too." When she was able to say goodbye properly to her mother, she immediately called her friend Gia. But she did not answer her phone.

She looked everywhere at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. She needs to ask where the nearest mall is because she’s not bringing lots of clothes. She would just shop in the mall while waiting for her friend.

According to her mom, they once resided in the Philippines. Besides, this is her land of birth. But 5 years ago, her parents decided to migrate to Canada. But she doesn't know anything here in the Philippines. Based on her opinion, it seems that this is just the first time in this country. But what she feels is different from what she thinks.

"Excuse me, mister, can I ask you something?" She tried to get the attention of the nearest man from where she was standing. And her eyes went wide when she saw the face of that man. "Oh! Am I in heaven already?" She couldn’t help asking.

The word handsome is not enough to describe the man standing in front of her. He looks like a Greek God from Mt. Olympus! Oh! Actually not! He looks like more of a Superman! Yeah right! He looks like Henry Cavill!

"Superman?" She asked. The man furrowed his eyebrows.

It seemed like he was a foreigner. A beautiful set of gray eyes, a pointed nose, a perfect tan skin tone, a thick and firm set of eyebrows, a wavy and a little bit of curly hair. He has a thin mustache, which seems a result of not shaving for a few days. And he really has a perfect body, like Superman!

"Love?" He whispered, but enough for her to hear.

"Wow! You are so fast! I know you look like Superman, but I'm not an easy woman." She said while smiling.

It seemed like the man had come to his senses. And again, he suddenly furrowed his eyebrows. But she kept flashing her beautiful smile in front of this handsome man while blinking her eyes, hoping that he would find it cute. When the man chose to turn his back on her, she immediately moved in front of him to block his way.

"Do you know what the nearest mall is here?" She asked.

Again the man’s eyebrows furrowed. "Do I look like an information officer?" He said. His tone of voice was so grumpy. But she was a little bit surprised because he said that in the Filipino language.

"Wow! Isn't it amazing? You can speak Filipino!" She said, beaming, but it seemed that he just looked more irritable. And without any words, he just turned his back on her and walked away. But before he was able to completely turn his back from her, she caught a glimpse of his wedding ring.

"Oh! How sad! He is so handsome but so grumpy! Oh! Well, he is married anyway!" She whispered to herself.

But she was not able to prevent herself. She ran towards him but kept a little distance and shouted, a reason why she caught the attention of the people in the airport. "Mister Grumpy! You look like Superman!"

It was like everything went into slow motion as the handsome man turned around his head again. She winked at him and demonstrated a peace sign using her fingers and then, without any word, she passed through him.

"Life is too short, that’s why you need to say everything you want to say. And for sure our paths will never cross again." She whispered to herself again.

Maybe the taxi drivers here can be trusted. She would just ask the taxi driver to drop her at the nearest mall there.

SYKE CAN’T HELP but shakes his head because of the strange woman. He is already used to women who are so obvious about getting his attention. And he never dared to show interest in any of them. But this woman is a little bit different. For a moment there, he thought she sounded so familiar. There is only one woman that his heart will never forget, no matter how many years may have passed.

He took a deep sigh and shook his head. He is certain that their path will never cross again. He must admit that the woman was pretty. But there is more to that, because, for a second, that woman was able to get his attention.

Then his phone rang. His cousin Gia is currently calling. And now, what does his pesky cousin want this time? Since she was back in the Philippines, she’s been living in his house. It’s been almost a year now and she was really a great help when it comes to his business.

"What is it?" He asked immediately.

"As usual! You are still the grumpiest man alive!" Gia said and laughed out loud.

He did not bother to pay attention to what she said. "What do you need?" He asked without even changing the tone of his voice.

"Oh! Wow! It’s you already!"

"I will hang up—"

"Okay okay! Remember my friend from Canada? She will arrive today. I've already talked to Tita Emz and she permitted me already. She will live in the house with us," Gia explained.

"Then why are you still calling me?" He asked her without any interest at all in what she said.

"Because you own the house," His cousin replied.

"If Mama already gave you permission, then I can’t do anything with that."

"Okay! Thank you, cousin!" Gia said excitedly.

He quickly ended the call. He was irritated about how loud she could get sometimes. And now who knows? He has to deal with another one now! Because even if he owns the house, because of his love for his mother, he lets her decide when it comes to things like that. Whenever his cousin has this kind of request, his mother will just tell him that they have a huge house. Why not?

"Boss, I just want to remind you that you need to buy something in the mall." Leo reminded him while they were walking towards his vehicle. He is his personal assistant/driver/bodyguard.

He groaned upon hearing that. First, because it’s too noisy in the mall. Second, he does not have any choice but to go there because he needs to buy something to wear for an event next week.

"Okay, let's go!"

WEVZ HAS BEEN ROAMING AROUND in Mall Of Asia for ages now. The taxi driver dropped her by in this mall. She was not able to buy anything yet because she decided to eat first because she was starving. Her only problem is, she doesn't know what to eat. Yeah! What a life! While some people think about how to bring food to the table, there she is, having problems with what to eat!

Her friend Gia called her a while back and she said that she would call her again once she’s in the mall already. Then all of a sudden her eyes widened when she saw ‘Superman’ - the grumpy married man that she encountered in the airport a while back.

"Oh! I wonder what he is doing here? I think he is stalking me! Oh! My! Gosh! That's really fast, huh? Oh! What a stalker!" Then suddenly she got agitated about what she was thinking.

Well, it seems that he was not able to see her yet. But it seems like he’s looking for someone.

"Gosh! I think it’s me that he’s been looking for! Oh! This is your fault, Weva! Why did you suddenly wink and obviously give him beautiful eyes at the airport? He is a stranger! He might have thought that you liked him!" She told herself. She has this habit of talking to herself. That’s why most of the time her friend Gia laughed at her.

"Well, not bad at all. He is handsome anyway. Oh! No! Cannot be! He is already married! I will never ruin a family! Oh! Weva! I will s***k you, don't you dare to be somebody’s mistress!" She kept on talking to herself.

Then her eyes became bigger when the man turned his head in her direction. And then he suddenly walked in her direction! She’s just near the female’s restroom. That's why she decided to go inside while she could feel her heart beating so fast.

She went inside a cubicle. "Oh! What am I going to do? He is following me!" She tried calling Gia, but she was not answering her phone, maybe she was driving. She decided to send her a message that someone was following her.

She decided to go outside the cubicle and cautiously check the female restroom outside. The man is still there and it seems that he is waiting for her. It seems that he is checking the female restroom once in a while.

All the females in the restroom are actually looking at her oddly. Well, she is in the mall anyway and this man can’t do anything to her. Besides, for sure, this mall has CCTV cameras.

With her head up, she walked and went outside the female restroom. Then suddenly their eyes met. Suddenly, her heart beat fast when she saw him look at her from head to toe. Then she froze from where she was standing when the man started walking towards her! She tried to check her surroundings. There were no people at all! Why is no one going outside the restroom?! She moved backward but when she felt the cold wall and the man kept on walking towards her, she started panicking.

"Oh! My gosh! What am I gonna do?" She asked herself repeatedly.

"Don’t come near me! I will shout! I swear!" She said and put her hands in front of her, stopping him from moving more closely to her.

The man’s eyebrows furrowed. And did not say a word. "I repeat! D-Don’t come near me! I-I will report you! You are stalking me, huh? I am not into married men even if he is as handsome as Superman!" She tried her best to say that firmly.

For a second, she saw amusement dancing in his gray eyes. And wait! Did he just smile? Or was it just her imagination? Because what she is seeing right now is a man with tiny eyes with a grumpy face and his eyebrows furrowed while moving closely to her.

Suddenly she couldn’t say anything. All she could hear was her heart beating so loud! Gosh! What am I going to do? Is he planning something? She secretly took a deep sigh when he stopped estimatedly a foot away from where she was standing.

Then he bent his upper body a little bit. His half-face was an inch away from her half-face. And then she felt his mouth near her left ear.

"1st, you are too loud. 2nd, you are not that beautiful for me to be interested in you. 3rd, maybe you want to close your zipper? Not unless you did it on purpose." He whispered, which made her shiver.

When everything he said sank in, most especially the last sentence he said, she immediately turned back from him and closed the zipper of her pants! Oh! How can she forget that? Maybe after she peed a while back! Maybe because her mind was preoccupied!

She knows that she does not have the courage to face this man anymore. And she knows that her cheeks are so red because she can feel that they are so hot. She took a deep breath and made sure that everything was okay and then she turned her back again.

Then she does not know if she will be happy or feel empty when she finds out that the handsome man is not there anymore.
