Chapter 8
Auricle's POV
"She said she'd want to court me"
My cousins' head immediately snapped at me. With just that simple statement, nagsilapitan sila sa akin. Natigil sa kaniya-kaniyang ginagawa.
I just leaned on my swivel while stirring the boiling cup of coffee.
"Oh? Talaga?"
My brows immediately furrowed because of Incus' question, my brother.
"What do you mean? You think i'm lying?" I said in a deep voice. Slightly irritated.
He smirked, after that he settled himself on the visitor's chair in front of me. Ang ibang pinsan naman ay nagsiupuan sa sofa dito sa loob ng opisina ko. But their full ears are still on me.
"Hindi naman sa ganon kuya. Mahirap lang paniwalaan"
"Incus is just being envious 'cause up till now, mainit pa din ang ulo sa kaniya ni shanala"
Incus stiffened. Kumuyom ang kamao niya.
"At si calli hindi mainit ang ulo sayo?" My brother fired back at Malleus. "Kung sabagay, paano ba naman aamo sayo kung parati mong sinisita!"
Malleus face slowly darkened. He glared at my brother and incus just disregarded it. He just sipped from his styro cup with a slight smirk thinking that he once again irritated the crap out of our cousin.
"Dami niyong sinasabi, pare-parehas lang naman kayo!" Theo butted in.
Hindi na nakapag komento ang dalawa. I just rolled my eyes.
They are so loud, dammit!
"You seem to be in deep thoughts auricle. Shouldn't you be celebrating?" Elixton, my other cousin asked.
"Why would i celebrate?"
Kumunot ang noo ni helix. "What do you mean? Sa ating lahat, ikaw ang naka una! There's your girl right there! Serving herself to you!...on a silver platter! Hindi ba't iyon naman ang dahilan ng pagpunta nating lahat dito. Kung bakit tayo nag-apply rito?"
"You should be thankful bro. Shanala is hard as a rock. She's too complicated to get. Too complicated to handle."
"Si calli din. Damn bro i will grow old early because of her! Hindi ko alam kung iniinis niya ba ako lalo dahil pagkatapos ko siyang balaan, every lab time i can still smell the stench of cigarette on her!"
Napahilamos ako sa mukha. "Exactly my point! yours are too hard to get! Si rebecca naman, between the two of us, ako dapat ang naghahabol! Hindi siya!!" I huffed out of frustration.
All of them stilled because of my sudden snapping. Maya-maya ay bumunghalit ng tawa. I even caught my brother wiping a shed of tear on the side of his eye.
"Grabe! Idol talaga kita kuya! Paano mo ba napaamo si rebecca ng gano'n?"
"He is doing all of it in an effortless manner. Konting simangot lang. konting pagsusuplado. Diba case?"
Umirap ako. I was about to say something when i heard a knock on the door. Our neck tilted.
Nagreklamo si Malleus. "f**k! Lunch time ngayon oh! Can't they give us a f*****g break!?"
"Come in!" Tawag ko.
Bumukas ang pintuan. Niluwa no'n ang isa sa mga kaibigan ni Rebecca, si Calli. I glanced at Malleus and i noticed him stiffen.
"G-good afternoon po Sirs..."
She slightly bowed and her eyes for a moment remained on the floor shyly. Maybe she didn't expect all of us to be here. Ramdam ko ang ilang niya.
"What is it Ms. Aventura?"
It was malleus who asked but calli's gaze remained on me. As if she was really trying to not look at his side.
Inabot niya sa akin ang isang folder. "Yung papers po..."
Tinanggap ko iyon. "Did everyone turned in their homeworks?"
Tumango ang babae. "Yes sir"
"Okay. Thank you so much Ms. Aventura"
"No problem sir"
She turned on her heel. She didn't even bother to spare a glance for my now enraged cousin. Nagpaalam siya sa iba pero hindi kay malleus.
When the door of my office closed, i heard malleus cussed. "Tangina!"
The corner of my lips rose while our other cousins found the situation humorous, they laughed at him.
I just shook my head and opened the folder rebecca's friend gave me.
"What's that?"
Hindi pa nakuntento, lumapit pa si incus sa lamesa ko. Chismoso!
"Anyways...Lolo called. He was looking for you Auricle"
"His secretary tried to call me too. Hindi ko nga sinagot. I put my phone on airplane mode"
I payed no heed to what they were saying. I just continued to check the papers until i came across with a one paper. A certain paper named by Rebecca Zamora.
I heard Incus chuckled beside me. I firmly closed my eyes and massaged the bridge of my nose.
"f**k! What now rebecca!" I whispered in a stressed manner.
Rebecca's POV
Ngiti-ngiti akong pumasok sa classroom namin. Mas lalo lamang lumapad ang ngiti ko nang makitang hindi pa ako late. Because...I already made it a daily aim to try not to be late on my morning classes. And this...is another good day for achievements!
Umupo na ako sa upuan ko. Naroon na din ang mga kaibigan ko kaya may konting chikahan na naganap. Ilang minuto pa, dumating na din ang bebe ko.
Umayos naman ako ng upo. Nakangiting pinagkrus ang binti at pinagsiklop ang palad sa ibabaw ng armchair.
We said our goodmornings in synch pero dahil pabida ako at nagpapapansin sa kaniya, ako yung may pinakalakas na boses.
"Take your seats" he ordered. Sumunod naman kami.
"I am already done checking the assignment sheets you turned in to me yesterday, i will return them back to you so you can see your scores." anunsyo niya.
Kinagat ko ang pang-ibabang labi nang may maaalala.
I was stifling my giggle when he turned to me. Tumiim ang bagang niya. Nginitian ko lang siya bilang tugon.
He came to us one by one. Row by row he returned the papers. And when it was my turn, nilapag niya ang papel ko sa armchair ko.
"You think this is funny Zamora?" Kahit pabulong ay mariin ang tono niya. Halatang nagpipigil lang ng galit.
"Bakit? Anong mali sa ginawa ko?" Lumabi ako. "Hindi ba dapat kina-congratulate mo ako? Perfect ko yung assignment ko oh!"
Sinamaan niya lang ako ng tingin at nagpatuloy na sa paglalakad.
"Ilan ka R?" Tanong ni adelie sa tabi ko.
Kinuha niya ang papel ko at tiningnan iyon. Ilang segundo pa ay siguro napansin niya, humalakhak siya.
"Gaga ka talaga R! galit na naman yan sayo bahala ka!"
I just clicked my tongue.
Araw-araw naman galit yon e! Pero ewan ko ba, sa tuwing nakikita ko siyang nakabusangot, mas lalo lamang akong nai-enjoy! I like it when his brows get furrowed. And i won't stop until his forehead is completely wrinkled. Mas mabuti nga iyon! Masisigurado kong akin lang siya, wala akong kaagaw sa kaniya! Walang Bullfrog na Olivero na umaaligid sa kaniya!
Nakangisi kong muling tiningnan ang papel. Sinong prof ang hindi magagalit sa ginawa ko? E imbes na actual petsa ang ilagay ko sa gilid ng date, ang nilagay ko ay yung salitang 'me please sir Auricle'. So it goes like...

Itinaas ko muli ang tingin ko. Nasa harapan na siya. And i found him looking at me. When he saw that our eyes connected, he glared.
I just winked at him and mouthed, 'say yes'
Sinimangutan niya lang ako at umiwas na ng tingin. He then continued with his lecture. Buong klase niya ay hindi niya na ulit ako tinapunan pa ng tingin. Gayunpaman, nakangiti naman ako the whole time.
Hindi ko alam kung dahil gusto ko lang ba talaga na bumagal pa ang oras at humaba ang lecture niya dahil nang idismiss niya kami ay simangot akong sumabay kila calli sa paglabas.
Nasa pintuan na ako nang marinig ko siyang tumawag. Lumiwanag naman ang mukha ko. I was about to turn but i heard nes calling for me.
"Mauna na kayo" sabi ko.
"May naghahanap sayo"
Sumimangot ako.
"Sino naman!?" Hindi ko mapigilan ang inis. Sino itong sumasapaw!?
"Si eros!" Nakingiti niyang sabi.
"Sino?"
"Si eros sis! Yung manliligaw mo na ghinost mo noon?"
"Gago hindi ko kilala yan!"
Tumalikod na ako at papasok na sana ulit sa classroom nang marinig ko ang isang pamilyar na boses. Nilingon ko iyon at kaagad ko namang namukhaan.
Tangina oo pala! Nakalaplapan ko to noon! Ito nga yung eros!
"R!" Ngiti niya sa akin.
"Hi! Bakit?"
"Pwede ba tayong mag-usap?"
Ngumiwi ako. "Pwedeng mamaya na lang? May gagawin pa ako e"
"Hindi, sandali lang to R. Tungkol to sa—"
"Eros! Eros diba? Let me just clear some things here with you okay? Kung galit ka kasi ghinost kita, sorry. Sorry talaga. Pero...hindi ako si shanala...hindi ako laplap and run. Sadyang nawalan lang talaga ako ng interes, alam mo yon? Tsaka...changed woman na ako ngayon, stick to one na ako. Isang laway na lang ang gusto kong matikman ngayon" mabilis kong sabi. Hingal ako nang matapos sa pagsasalita.
The guy looked at me amazed. Hindi maipagkaila na gwapo nga siya. Chinito at maputi. Pero...Loyal na talaga ako ngayon kay Sir Auricle no!
Humalakhak siya.
"No, what i was referring to was about the implementation in biology. Kasali ka doon diba?"
Natigilan ako. Kumunot ang noo.
"Oo. Bakit?"
"I participated too. Actually, ako ang nagko-collect ng mga waiver. And i want to ask about yours since bukas na iyon"
"Ah..." i was literally dumbfounded. Okay! Nag assume ako doon ng konti! Nakakahiya!
"H-hindi ko pa napi-permahan e. Kahapon ko lang din kasi nakuha, at nakaligtaan ko. Uhm....hindi ba pwedeng bukas ko na lang iyon ibibigay?"
"Sure! I happened to see the list, at nakita kong iisang bus lang naman tayo. Doon mo na lang ibibigay?"
Tumango ako. "Sure! Maraming salamat"
He smiled and gestured his hand in a gentleman manner. Hindi ko mapigilan ang mapangiti. "I'll walk you to your friends?"
"Uhm..."
Nilingon ko ang loob ng classroom. At hindi na natagpuan ng mga mata ko si Sir. Auricle.
Nasaan na yon? umalis na siya? Nanlumo naman ako.
Wala akong nagawa kundi sumabay na lang din sa kaniya sa paglalakad. Nang tuluyan nang makalabas ng pintuan, nilibot ko ang tingin ko and my eyes were immediately connected to Auricle's. Nasa likod ko pala siya.
He clenched his jaw at me then i saw him glancing at Eros beside me. Tatawagin ko pa sana siya ngunit mabilis na niya kaming nilagpasan.
Kumunot ang noo ko. Anong problema non?
