Chapter Nineteen: Closure

My heart thumped so hard I don't even know what to do, is this a heart attack? I don't think this is normal.

I can feel my fingers moving like it want to type a reply, but what should I reply?

I sighed, bahala na.

Me:

What are we going to talk about?

I closed my eyes when I hit sent. Nang maka recover ako ay tinignan ko ang bintana ko kung nandoon ba siya.

My eyes grew when I saw him sitting on a hammock drinking his juice looking intently at my window.

Hindi rin nag tagal nang narinig ko ang notification sound na may nag chat.

Sage:

friendly talk? let's catch up.

I immediately replied.

Me:

Okay, where can we talk?

Sage:

cafe?

Gusto ko sana pumayag kaso galing na kami ni Khairus doon at medyo busog pa ako.

Me:

I'm still full, we just ate there. Can we talk some other time?

Sage:

Medyo maaga pa pero humiga na ako para matulog, maybe my eyes are tired from reading.

Habang nagpapainit ako ng tubig ay naisipan kong pumunta sa jogging spot namin ni Sage, it's perfect kasi wala pang alas quatro kaya marami pa akong oras para mag ayos ng sarili.

Umakyat na ako para mag hilamos at mag handa ng mga libro na dadalhin ko, maybe I'll bring two or three books, wala naman kaming pasok ngayon. Nagluto na rin ako ng bacon at ham para sa sandwich ko, mag picnic ako mag isa.

Nang naayos ko na lahat ng dadalhin ko ay nakita kong saktong alas quatro na kaya lumabas ako, and to my shock Sage is standing in front of his apartment. He waved at me and I just smiled.

Unti unti siyang lumapit sa akin and I noticed he also have a tote bag.

"How did you know that I'm awake?" Tanong ko, this is just out of nowhere kaya imposibleng alam niya na aalis ako.

"Nakita kong binuksan mo yung lamp sa kwarto mo, I messaged you na mag jogging tayo kaso mukhang mag pipicnic ka mag isa mo." He said then looked at my picnic basket.

I just shrugged. "Let's go?" Aya ko.

Hindi na siya sumagot, nauna lang siyang nag lakad kaya sinundan ko siya, he is walking slowly, it's like he is acknowledging my presence.

"So yesterday you messaged me that you want us to have some friendly talk? Let's talk now?"

"Oh yeah... I feel like we have some misunderstandings and I want to fix things because we had a good friendship, and I don't want it to end. So tell me, why are you ignoring me?" Huminto siya sa pag lalakad.

"You're seriously asking me that?" Hindi ako huminto sa paglalakad, sinundan niya ako.

"Yes, because I can't figure out what's wrong, I'm not any psychic or what to know what you're thinking Phoebe..." mahina niyang saad habang naglalakad.

I just sighed. "Let's talk later."

Tahimik kami sa buong lakad, my heart is thumping every step. Kada hakbang ko ay nakakadalawang t***k ang puso ko. Ganito palagi kapag kasama ko si Sage, this is not normal anymore.

Nang makarating kami ay nilatag ko na ang blanket at inaya ko siyang umupo, nilabas ko na isa isa ang mga pagkain at ganoon din ang ginawa niya, he brought some food also.

We exchanged food at binigyan ko siya ng bacon egg sandwich and he gave me a pancake.

Tahimik kaming naka upo habang nakikinig sa mga huni ng ibon at mga alon ng ilog. We ate in silence but then he broke it. "Is it the right time to talk?" He said smiling.

Napahinto ako. "Sage... I don't want to be the reason for someone's heartbreak, I don't know if you just don't care about other's feelings or you're just ignoring it, but Camille is jealous whenever you are near me."

"Why would she? Did she tell you that?" Tanong niya na ikinakunot ng noo ko.

"She's your girlfriend Sage, it's normal and I understand her. Whenever you're with me, you're not giving her some attention, kung ako ang girlfriend mo mag seselos din ako kung ganiyan ka sa ibang babae."

"Phoebe what are you talking about? Camille is not my girlfriend, why would you assume that?" He said while looking at me intently. He looks mad.

"She told me, you don't need to deny your relationship with her. Lalo lang akong pag iinitan ng ulo ng girlfriend mo. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret." Saad ko at tinitignan lang niya ako.

"Are you mad?" Tanong ko.

"No... I mean yes I'm mad, but not with you." He took a deep breath. "So you're telling me... that you've been avoiding me because of that lie?" He looked at me.

Agad akong nag iwas ng tingin, the way he stare at me made me shiver, I can't look at him when he's looking me with those eyes.

"Lie? So Camille is not your girlfriend? But-" he cuts me off.

"I don't want to hear it, I thing I've heard enough. Let's talk about you and you boyfriend yesterday." He said.

"Khairus is not my boyfriend, he's our classmate." Saad ko.

"Nawala lang ako ng isang araw iba na ang nag hatid sayo pauwi..." napakunot ang noo ko ng may marinig akong tampo sa boses niya.
