Chapter 11

When Unique bolted out of the room, Amanda turned around to his husband, Gabrielle, and confronted him. She was so enraged because of the words that he said to their son.

"GABRIELLE, DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO SAY THAT?" Amanda yelled with anger visible to her face.

"DON'T YELL AT ME! AND WHAT IS IT THAT I HAVE SAID WRONG?!" Gabrielle snapped back.

"I HAVE THE RIGHT TO YELL AT YOU. YOU HAVE CROSSED THE LINE. EVERYTHING YOU HAVE JUST SAID RIGHT NOW IS COMPLETELY WRONG!" she yelled back at him.

Gabrielle heaved a heavy sigh. He closed his eyes for a moment to take a pause. He needed that pause to calm his emotions because he knew that they would not have a proper conversation if their emotions were clashing with each other.

"Amanda, calm down. We can't understand each other if we are yelling at each other, " Gabrielle said to his wife.

Amanda tried to calm her emotions by breathing heavily for a few times. When she felt that her emotions have calmed down, she turned to her husband with a deep frown on her forehead

"Okay, let's talk, calmly, " Amanda said.

"So, why do you have to do that to our son?" Amanda asked Gabrielle.

"What did I do wrong? I just gave him his punishment, that's all," Gabrielle replied.

"Punishment? Well it is good you gave him punishment but it is a little harsh, don't you think?" Amanda said with a firm voice.

"What is so harsh about that? It is just a light punishment. It will help him reflect on the things he had done, " Gabrielle replied to his wife.

"Why don't you talk to our son, instead of giving him punishment?" Amanda suggested.

"I tried earlier. Remember?" Gabrielle said.

"Tried? I didn't see that. All I see is you scolding him, not giving a chance to talk at all, " Amanda said.

"What?! Didn't give him a chance to talk?! I gave him enough time and a chance to talk earlier!" Gabrielle snapped.

"No! You didn't give him any chance at all! All you did was talk nonstop and just blame him for everything!" Amanda snapped back.

"You are his father yet you didn't even care about his feelings at all!" Amanda added with a little loud voice.

Gabrielle's face turned grim. He was holding back his emotions but right at that moment, it bursted.

"WHAT?! I DIDN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT HIS FEELINGS?! THE WHAT ABOUT MY FEELINGS? THE COMPANY? OUR REPUTATION? DID HE THINK ABOUT THOSE THINGS BEFORE HE DID THOSE THINGS? DID HE THINK THAT EVERYTHING HE DID WILL AFFECT OUR BUSINESS?" Gabrielle shouted at his wife.

"THE VERY BUSINESS THAT FEEDS AND CLOTHES HIM. THE BUSINESS THAT SUPPORTS HIS WANTS AND NEEDS. THE BUSINESS THAT GIVES HIM PRIVILEGES. SO, TELL ME, AM I RIGHT TO GIVE THOSE PUNISHMENTS TO HIM?!" Gabrielle added with anger burning in his eyes.

Amanda was taken aback by those words. Words that she knew were true. She stayed silent for a moment. Amanda was thinking of all the things that Gabrielle told her just now.

"AND BESIDES, YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER ABOUT OUR SON. YOU ARE HIS MOTHER. WHILE I AM BUSY WITH SO MUCH WORK THAT I DON'T SEE THE ENDING, YOU SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE ATTENTION TO UNIQUE!" Gabrielle said.

Amanda didn't say anything for a long time. She was contemplating the words he just said. She was hurt about those words but she realized that all of those words were true. She couldn't refute any of those words. Amanda heaved deep, heavy sighs.

"I know that you are very tied up at work but don't you think that you are neglecting your son?" Amanda finally said something.

"Neglecting our son?! If I were neglecting him, I should have just let him rot in jail, " Gabrielle said.

"I know that he knows that his actions can affect the business that you work hard to expand. But please just give our son a little bit of your time to sit down and talk or hangout, " Amanda said.

"If he wants to have a little bit of my time, he should do everything to be a good and responsible son, " Gabrielle said to his wife while frowning his forehead.

"He is a good and responsible son. You just didn't see it because you are not giving him a little bit of your time, " Amanda refuted his husband.

"Good and responsible son? If he is responsible and good, he should just study very well and not do any of those pranks that caused this whole mess. He is my only heir to the company that I worked so hard to expand but all he did was to bring the reputation of the company to the ground, " Gabrielle said.

"He didn't bring it to the ground. And besides, he is doing all he could in his studies, " Amanda replied.

"If he is really doing really well in his studies, his grades should be good but for all I know, his grades are not even average and now he is suspended because he played a prank on someone who is still new at the school. And that prank caused the student to be sent to hospital, " Gabrielle insisted.

"Unique has been in many schools but these things keep happening again and again. So now, he should learn his lesson. He should be thankful that I didn't send him abroad this time. So Amanda, you should really monitor Unique really closely right now because I will do everything to avoid dragging our reputation to the ground because of our son, " Gabrielle added.

Amanda cannot refute those words. She just nodded her head in submission because she doesn't want to waste all the efforts that her husband put into expanding their business.

The two fell silent. Little did they know that Unique was just behind the wall. He heard everything his parents said. He felt disappointed.

Hah. This is nothing new. They always care about the business anyway. Did they know that I am doing those pranks because I want someone to notice me. I really want to cry but I will just waste my tears over those words which I heard every time for the past couple of years of my life. I will just get out of here tonight. Hah. Let us drown on alcohol and just enjoy the night.

Unique walked away from the room. He went to his car and hit the road. Not knowing that he was being tailed by a bodyguard.

Amanda and Gabrielle heard an engine car. They knew that it was Unique driving the car. Gabrielle breathed a heavy sigh. He called for a bodyguard.

"SMITH! SMITH!" Gabrielle yelled.

The bodyguard, Smith, entered the room and stood straight in front of Gabrielle.

"Tail, Unique. Bring him back once there is a chance. And from now on you will drive him to school and back to this house everyday from tomorrow on. Do not let him be out of your sight even for a moment. Do you understand?" Gabrielle said.

"Yes, sir. I understand, " Smith, the bodyguard, said to Garbielle.

"Okay now, go on your way, " Gabrielle ordered Smith.

Smith, the bodyguard, walked away to get out of the room and hopped to the car to tail Unique. Amanda and Gabrielle were the only ones in the room. Amanda can't take the silence. She walked out of the room and went to her own private room.

Gabrielle just heaved a deep, heavy sigh before he looked at the window and thought of the things that he needed to do at work tomorrow.

What a night? I am so tired. I want to rest but I can't.

And with that he continued to stare out the window.
