EVERYONE WENT silent when me ang kuya entered the conference room where the board members are. Tahimik lang ang nga ‘to na parang takot na makapag salita kahit konting pagkakamali lamang.
Kuya settled himself on a chair at the head of the table, and so am I beside him. My heart pounded in my chest like a drum. Kinakabahan ako especially that the people around us ay hindi ko masyadong kilala.
"I'm sure you all know why we're here," Kuya began, his voice strong and steady. "I'm here to announce..." He paused, letting his words hang in the air. The moment stretched out, as if in slow motion. "...that Kierra, my sister will be the new director of this hospital.”
