"Meg! Thank you so much sa pagpayag na bumalik na agad sa work kahit nakabakasyon ka pa dapat. Ini-enjoy mo pa sana ang beaches ng Palawan. Sorry."
"Okay lang, Lulu. Three weeks din naman akong nag-liwaliw dito. Na-enjoy ko na sobra. Tsaka kinukulit na din akong umuwi."
"Timing din naman pala. Ito naman kasing si Samantha biglang nag-quit. Hindi na daw sasama sa flight pa-Maynila. Paano?Ang chismis nagtanan na daw. Pero mas naniniwala akong hindi niya kinaya ang kasungitan nung bagong pilot."
"May bagong pilot?Masungit?"
Lulu holds a finger to her lips as a sign for Meg to keep her voice down. She then pulls her friend away from the cockpit door towards the cabin where they start doing a routine scan of the seats and aisle.
When they get near the second exit and she believes they were far enough,Lulu turns to Meg and speaks in a hushed tone.
"Yung bagong co-pilot ni Captain Walter..."
"Sabi na eh. Di matitiis. What about him?" Meg chuckles as she closes a window blind.
"Ayun nga. Sobrang sungit. Dati na daw pilot yun sa private planes. Favorite ng isang super sikat na celebrity kaso nagka-problema ata so nag-quit. Pamangkin daw ni Captain Walter yan kaya natulungan makapasok dito. First commercial flight niya yung pagpunta namin dito."
"Paano mo naman nasabing masungit?" Meg asks.
"Ang suplado kasi. Halos hindi ngumingiti nung pinakilala sa flight crew tapos ang daming inuutos at dine-demand. Yun nga si Samantha daw nasigawan dahil masyadong malamig yung binigay na tubig."
"What?! Parang yun lang nanigae na? Tapos utos nang utos? Aba teka. Anong tingin niya sa atin dito? Yaya niya?" Meg raises an eyebrow.
"Exactly. Sayang nga eh. Gwapo sana yun. Matangkad, maputi, maganda katawan, lalim ng dimple, ang laki ng... uhm... braso, kaso ganoon nga kasama ang ugali." Lulu shakes her head.
"Naku! Hindi pwede yan. Dapat nire-report yan." Meg says.
"At bakit niyo naman ako ire-report?" A stern voice asks.
She instantly freezes while Lulu's face turns pale as she looks at someone standing right behind Meg.
A shiver runs down her spine at his deep voice and strong presence that inexplicably seems to be pulling her to him like a magnet.
"Oh! Shiiii..." She thinks.
Meg widens her eyes at Lulu and quietly communicates with her friend through face distortions as she closes and opens her fists anxiously.
The man behind her silently watches the slender figure in front of him and she could feel his heavy stare.
Lulu raises her eyebrow and discreetly twitches her lips to tell Meg to face their co-pilot.
She's not even worried that he would see her because it's obvious that his eyes are completely drawn to Meg. She couldn't help but feel a little giddy for them.
Meg tightly closes her eyes and draws a slow deep breath. She figures she will have no other choice but to face the man and be ready to take his wrath on her words.
As if his presence is not intimidating enough, he clears his throat to remind her of it.
Meg is caught between running to the restroom at the end of the plane or turning to face him.
He undoubtedly terrifies her but something about the man she has yet to see enthralls her. A dazzling enigma that gravitates her to him like a moth to a flame.
With a burst of courage drawn deep within, she squares her shoulders, lifts her chin up and starts to turn towards him.
As the sweet scent that filled the air between them and intoxicated him pulls away from his nose, he puts on his most disarming dimpled smirk.
Ready to confront the woman who offended him with his words with his charm.
He starts to rumble in his mind. "Akala mo ha? Sisiguraduhin kong kakainin mo yang sinabi mo tungkol sa ak... Oh! Shiiii..."
This time it's his turn to be shocked.
His brain chokes on his own words as he finds himself confronted by a pair of painfully familiar but still mesmerizing brown doe eyes.
She meets his gaze now with complete confidence. The tables have turned. Any awkwardness she felt is now replaced with utter contempt.
"You." They say at the same time.
Her in a low spiteful snarl. Him with a soft sigh of delight and disbelief.
"Magkakilala kayo?" Lulu, who has been quietly watching the scene before her unfold like a romantic movie, asks in awe.
"Unfortunately." Meg says.
She catches the pain that fills his eyes but she's not about to take back what she just said.
It WAS both a blessing and a misfortune that their paths crossed in the past.
"And..." Lulu prods.
"We're not talking about it." Meg tells her friend but her eyes are glued on him.
She turns her back on him and starts to walk away when he catches her wrist. "Megan, let me explain."
"Iba yung pagsabi ng full name, bes. Ang lalim. Shet! Teka lang." Lulu giggles.
Meg glares at her friend then kicks her heel as she spins hastily towards him.
Her piercing eyes bore right through him as she twists her hand away from his grasp.
"About what—" She pauses then with a bitter tone, she adds. "Sir?"
The defiance in her stare catches him off guard.
"About how you're such an asshole to your crew?" She asks.
"About how you mistreated our friend? How you're even here?" She asks each question unhesitatingly. The pain he caused her in the past coming back to her like it was yesterday.
He can see how much she hates him and he can't blame her for it.
If only she would let him explain, maybe she wouldn't despise him as much.
"About three years ago..." He speaks to her softly, as he looks deep into her eyes and holds her hand in his. "My Star."
There it is again, his eyes, his voice, his touch stirring an overwhelming concoction of warmth, passion and uncertainty inside her. It was what led her to his door back then, she abhors that feeling now after everything that happened.
"Meg, please..." He pleads, stepping closer to her.
She holds her breath, heart pounding, and mentally clawing her way out of the pits of his eyes that has started to capture her once again. She knows that he asks again, she would say yes. Her mind doesn't want to but it would take a miracle for her heart to say no.
His hand gently caresses the back of her hand, melting away the walls of heart with each stroke. She hates herself for it.
"Meg..." He whispers her name again.
"No! Say no! Damn it!" She screams in her head but if he finishes that sentence, she knows what her answer will be.
"Meg, pwede bang..."
"O! Andito pala ang co-pilot ko eh."
"Tito."
"Lulu, Meg, are we clear for boarding?" Their captain asks.
She immediately pulls her hand away and steps away from the living black hole that was pulling her in again. She clears her throat and answers. "Yes, Captain."
"Good. Russel, halika na."
