He told her one night that he was going back to work instead of continuing with the week-long leave he filed. It was a fleeting moment just after dinner and she went upstairs to her room.
He leaves before she wakes up, is gone all day and when he comes home, it's usually after dinner when she's already in her room. He hasn't heard his voice. They don't talk. Not even on the phone. The only communication they have are the notes he leaves by her door each morning with a rose he picks from the garden.
