Chapter Nine

Today is Monday and the schedule for me to meet my ophthalmologist. Chef Allana, as my immediate superior, instructed me to take a three day leave to properly recuperate from the accident. I still have tomorrow to rest fully so I decided to visit Kuya Winston at the room beside mine when I was admitted. I kissed Ate Thalia's cheek as a greeting and watched him lovingly took care of Kuya Winston. He still has his neck brace on but thankfully was fine overall. The scrapes and wounds on his arms were treated and all he needed to do was rest for his body to be recharged. The doctor said it will take him about two to three weeks to finally recover. Ate Thalia was overly worried about her husband that she took a month off from her school. She's a licensed professional teacher in a high school near their place. "Clari, have you eaten yet?" Kuya Winston asked, his brown eyes bore into mine despite his neck being held down because of the brace. "Not yet, bro. Later. Don't worry about me. Just take care of yourself." I said and went towards him. "Love, please give Clari something to eat. " Kuya Winston said to his wife and Ate Thalia followed. She brought the chao pan to me and I gladly took it. Knowing kuya, he doesn't want me to be starved to death. "Give me a moment, love. I'll just go to the restroom. Clari, can you watch over your brother for me?" Ate Thalia said and I nodded. She went out of the room and I looked at Kuya. "I know that Thali's crying whenever I'm not looking or am asleep. Even if it's against my will to be a burden to hee, I am helpless." Kuya Winston's voice broke and I could feel my own eyes watering. I had witnessed their love story and I could tell they both deserve each other. They had went through so much. And I know, this is another challenge for them to be stronger and have faith in one another. "I'm just praying that I'll recover fast so that I can take care of our kids and of her. " He said and his shoulders were shaking as he spoke. I caressed his shoulder and listened to him. "I may not have experienced what you gone through but I know that Thalia understands. You'll both overcome this obstacle soon." I said and gave him a smile. "Hey. Let's stop being so mushy. This is so gay! " Kuya Winston said and chuckled. I wiped down his tears and kissed him on the cheek. I hugged him for a few seconds and looked at him. "Thank you kuya for saving me. " I said gratefully. "That's nothing. I did what every big brother should do. " He managed a grin and wink. "Oh, I heard today is your check with your ophthalmologist? What time are you needed there?" "Two o'clock. I'll just stay here. The clinic is just downstairs according to the nurse at the concierge." I said and Ate Thalia returned from the restroom. "Eat first before you go. I made sure that there is enough food for everybody since I know that you will be coming here. My big brother radar sensed it." He said and me and Thalia laughed. We chatted a little bit more while we ate and thirty minutes before my appointment, I bid my goodbyes to them. "Take a rest, brother. I'll just stop by here tomorrow." I said and bid my goodbyes to them. I left their room and went to the elevator. As soon as I reached the fourth floor, I turned right to the nurses' station and asked for Dr. Buenaflor's room. She said to wait for my name to be called and I sat down at one of the benches. After five minutes, my name was called and I adjusted the strap of my sling bag. The doctor was probably inside the restroom so I stayed for a while at the receiving end of the table. "So, it is nice meeting you again, Miss Drool. " That voice and nickname reached my ears and I stood up in surprise as our eyes met. "Dr. Matrix de Silva, Ophthalmologist, at your service."
