Put a little love on me

On a fine spring day, the children were all playing on the grounds of Hope orphanage. Laughter from the kids could be heard and the nuns were busy preparing the food for them as it is almost lunchtime. On a little swing, a girl is holding her small purple teddy bear. She is staring at the door of the orphanage giant gate hoping that the one she has been waiting for will arrive! ''Samantha, let us go inside and eat'' Mother Susan says as she approaches Samantha. Samantha looks at Mother Susan with tearful eyes! the tears she has been holding now want to get out of her eyes Mother Susan hurriedly hugs Samantha as she taps her back gently. ''Samantha, let us go inside so you can eat hmm? you're been like this for six weeks already, and it is not good for your health! you know you just got out of the hospital. you are not feeling that well hmm?' Mother Susan says as she comforts Samantha. Samantha suddenly burst into tears crying her heart out she hug Mother Susan very tightly. ''Yes that's it, that's it just cry, cry until your hearts calm down. don't hold it in because it will just hurt you more" ''mother where did he go?'' ''is he even coming back?'' ''Why did he leave me here alone?'' Samantha continuously ask Mother Susan between her sobs. ''I didn't know where he goes or what he has been doing but I only know one thing that he will never leave you here alone. And I'm still here your not alone okay.'' Mother Susan says trying to comfort her. ''Look at me Samantha '' Mother Susan place her hands in Samantha's cheeks as she wipes away her tears but it still rolls down over and over again. ''You know that he cares for you so much right?'' Mother Susan asks. Samantha nodded trying to control her tears. ''Then you must know better than anyone that he will never let you live here alone. right?'' Samantha nodded and this time her tears stop falling, She looks back at the gate '' Mother Susan I know that Jillian, will come back I trust him. He will come back" Samantha tried to reassure herself. "Let us go now Mother Susan" Samantha force a smile and started to walk inside. Mother Susan's heartaches as she sees Samantha, She didn't know what had happened to Jillian but the last time she sees him was when Samantha was in the hospital. Mother Susan didn't know where Samantha and Jillian came from, a year ago it was raining heavily and someone was banging the orphanage's gate as the doorbell keeps ringing that Mother Susan has no choice but to open the door where there is Samantha and Jillian Jillian was piggybacking Samantha as soon as he sees Mother Susan, he begs her to help them because Samantha is burning with a fever and blood where all over her forehead, It was raining heavily and the blood was all over their clothes! Mother Susan hurriedly help the two kids! Since that day Mother Susan let them live in the orphanage but Jillian is such a mature kid he clearly tells Mother Susan that they will live there but he will be one doing the job so that they won't be a burden and that Jillian says that he will never allow if they were to be adopted because once he reaches the right age he will take care of Samantha. It was the first time that Mother Susan saw such a determined eye from an eleven-year-old kid thus, she said yes. From then on Mother Susan saw how Jillian cared so much for Samantha, Samantha is only 8 years old while Jillian is twelve. When they eat Jillian would always gives his meat portions off to Samantha not minding if he only eats a little as long as Samantha is happy. Seven weeks ago Samantha and Jillian is cleaning in the orphanage, she and Jillian always do the cleaning together because they want to help the nuns to keep the place clean. When suddenly Samantha fell down the floor completely unconscious. The doctor said she needed a second surgery because there is something on her head and it needed to be removed before anything happens. Samantha has already had undergo surgery when they first came into the hope orphanage and now she needed it again. But when Samantha woke up after the surgery Jillian is nowhere to be seen. Mother susan didn't really know what had happened to Jillian, But she is sure that it has something to do with the money he gave to Mother Susan. Hope orphanage is just a small orphanage they only rely on the money that their sponsors give to them so when Samantha was hospitalized they don't have enough money for Samantha's operation they barely manage to survive every day due to the number of children in the orphanage! Thus Jillian, said that they don't have to worry about the money because he will do something about it. Jillian has been working in the capital of the city. He will leave the orphanage at 6 a.m and come home at 4 p.m. He said that he is working at a factory but whenever Mother Susan tried to visit him in his work they always said that visitors are not allowed during work hours. Mother Susan is been worried about what work he might be doing. And one day she tried to wait for Jillian at the entrance of the said factory but when she saw Jillian. He looks very tired and he just passes by Mother Susan as if she was not there, But the truth is Jillian walks as if his soul had been out of his body. He didn't notice Mother Susan at all! His cold sweat dripping down heavily! Mother Susan did not call him out instead she followed him and when they arrived at the gate of the orphanage Jillian stops as if he just found himself noticing that he's been sweating he wipe his sweats as well as fixing his hair. he didn't even notice that Mother Susan was following him. Forcing a smile he opens the door of the gate. Mother susan wondered what work could it be that makes him very weak and out of himself she decided to talk to him about it but Jillian denied everything and refused to talk. He just said they don't have to worry about anything because he will take care of the money but Mother Susan can't help but to worry ever since that day he gave the money to Mother Susan, he just disappears like a bubble. Mother Susan even went to the place where he works but it was already closed down. Mother Susan didn't want Samantha to worry because she is not fully recovered from the surgery so she didn't tell her what was happening. ''Mother, let us go inside'' Samantha comes back to call Mother Susan. " Oh alright. let's head in." keeping the thoughts in the back of her mind Mother Susan went inside with Samantha At the tree nearby in the orphanage, a boy was hiding as he stares at the girl who is about to disappear in his sight. ''I'm so sorry I have to leave you'' he whispers in his self, his eyes full of loneliness and helplessness. He had sneak in at the back in the orphanage just to steal a glance at her for the last time. " I will be back to keep my promise to you" he whispers in himself before leaving .....
