CHAPTER 5

Angel's POV

It’s early in the morning and I am now off to work, I walked out from my room heading outside. But unlike any other day, today was strange. I felt like I am being called by the side of the house wherein my old CD player was placed.

There I saw that Album. it’s been a while since the last time I played the songs in it. I kept on staring on that direction with a blank expression. As I was getting deep into thought, a sudden memory flashes into my head.

“Ma’am?” I was woken up by the voice of Mina who was already standing in front of the door. “Good Morning Ma’am,” she greeted. As usual, I did not greet back.

For almost four years of being my driver and assistant she already planted on her mind that I will never ever greet her back, she is used to it and she can deal with it.

“Hey,” I called her.

“Yes ma’am?” she answered. “do you see that album right there?” I pointed out my finger towards the CD player while Mina followed through her gaze. “Ah. Yes,” she replied and nod her head.

“throw it,” I cooed. “Pardon?” She replied with confusion.

“Are you deaf?” I scoffed at her. “I said throw it!” I repeated. Now she finally realized that she screwed up and though she was still confused, she did as I said. She walked towards the CD player and took the album on top of it and put it inside her bag. I immediately walked my way outside my unit and went all the way to the parking lot.

I arrived at the firm for about 5 minutes before the office hours. I saw my Secretary, Kate running for her life, making it sure that she will be ahead of me in reaching the office. But sorry b***h I will never allow that. She was running from the entrance trying to overtake me in reaching the elevator, but dear I was almost one step away from reaching it and I’m sure I’ll be in before she can come. Before she was able to reach the elevator I entered to it and closed it so that she won’t be able to ride on with me. Better luck next time girl! I smirked and raised my brows. You better prepare yourself later because I’m going to make you suffer for being late.

Finally, I reached the 20th floor of the building. I entered the office and saw some employees already on their desks while enjoying some coffee. Every person I am passing by were greeting me and I’m just ignoring them as I always do.

I finally entered to my private office and waited for my poor secretary. I sat on my chair and relaxed for a moment. After a few minutes, she came in catching her breathe as if she has joined a marathon. She looked so stressed and haggard with full of sweat on her face. It ruined her very nice outfit that fitted her wavy blonde hair and red lipstick. I smirked at her and she looked so upset. She knows what will I do to her.

I stood up and took a file that is as thick as an encyclopedia. “Have this photocopied, three copies each.”

I gave it to her and she was like about to throw up with the volume of papers she has to photocopy.

“I advise, you should start sleeping here so you will always be ahead of me,” I scoffed. Without any complain, she just went out of my office to start her suffering. I saw a little tear from her eyes but I don’t really care. I get back to my seat and started working.

In the middle of my busy time, somebody came I to my office. I looked towards the door and checked who could it be.

It was Georgina Jimenez, also a Lawyer who is my partner in this firm. “What?” I asked her while raising my brows. “what kind of evil have you done again to your Secretary huh?” she fussed. Georgina is my College classmate. She is not a friend but just a classmate, period. We both had an agreement to establish this firm since we believed that we’re both smart women. I know right.

“Why? did she report to you?” I asked while being sarcastic. I ran my finger through my hair and leaned my back on my chair. “Is that the only concern you have in coming here?” I asked.

“She is crying outside because you gave her a lot of files to be photocopied,” she fussed and raised her eyebrow while crossing her arms and standing in front of my table.

“Come on! It’s been a year since she became my secretary, she’s still not used to it?” this time, despite’s Georgina’s big eyes, she managed to let it looked small because of the piss she is feeling towards me.

“You all just deal with me, because this is me! I will never change for anyone, you can leave now,” I said rudely. She rolled her eyes and showed a sign of giving up. “Whatever,’ she replied and left.

But not less than a second when Georgina get out, Kate came in again.

What is the problem with this people? “Ma’am, somebody is here to see you,” She said. I raised my brows and started to get curious, as I was clueless of whoever wants to see me.

Yeah, may be another client I guess.

Slowly, the door opened and showed me the person I am curious about.

It was him, Jaydee Corpuz. I know I met him at the bar and police station but maybe he just had a grand entrance today. Just it.

“Hi Attorney Imperial,” He greeted.

I did not greet back, instead I asked him. “What are you doing here?” I said while raising my eyebrows.

“I just wanted to talk to you,” he cooed.

Kate was about to go out but I stopped her. “don’t you dare go out!” I squealed. The poor Kate went back to where she was standing. I felt relieved. I really can’t stand to be left alone with a man. Never.

I turned to Jaydee Corpuz and started to mock him. “Mr. Corpuz, I think you’re lost, I am not your Lawyer. Do not be confused, you know we’re both Imperial but I am Angel and she is Mia,” I explained while giving a fake mocking smile.

“I know, you are the one I wanted to talk to,’ he replied.

“Excuse me?” I uttered with disbelief. “You know; I am not guilty. Please help me, please let me win the case.”

What he said made me laughed so hard. “What? You’re asking me for help?” I stood up and draw nearer to him who was standing in front of my table, I faced him and crossed my arms. “You know that I am from the opposite side.” He is a total nut head.

“I know you, you will do everything to win this case even if I am innocent, so I am begging you. Please, my career is at stake,” he pleaded.

Why on earth will I care? How pathetic he is.

“I believe I can’t help you Mr. Corpuz, you must be asking your own lawyer about   it, just put your trust to your lawyer,I know she will do everything just to beat me, it’s her long term goal,” as soon as I said it to him I turned my back and took a step back to my chair. But I was surprise as he held me in my left arm close to my elbow. “Please,” He said.

I suddenly felt a tug on my heart as it began to palpitate. “Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!” I bawled and started to panic. “What’s wrong?” Jaydee asked me while trying to hold me again.

“Don’t touch me!” I shouted while facing him my palm as I am already shivering because of the reaction of my body the moment he held me which I cannot control. I am having a panic attack.
