"Hey!! Cherry how are you doing?" he asked with a heartbreakingly handsome smile and she smiled back shyly, slightly surprised that he somehow remembered her name and her face. He didn't look like the kind of man who kept track of faces or names. "I'm very well, thank you. It's nice to meet you here James. Do you know the Groom or the bride?" James shrugged. "The groom. Tobias and I come from the same inner circle. Plus he's a business associate. He can be annoying as hell though." "Well, I don't know him personally. I'm kind of a friend of the bride." Cherry explained and James nodded along as he slipped into the empty seat next to her. "I actually saw you in church. And I said to my self, Hey it's that cute lady I met in the cafe the other day. You look very beautiful." Her cheeks blushed furiously before she could even stop herself. "Thank you. I didn't think I was going to see you again after that day." He shrugged as he scooted his chair closer to hers. She could smell his masculine cologne overpowering her nostrils. She didn't think she ever smelled anything so wonderful before. Masculine and strong yet mild enough not to send her sneezing. "To be honest I was so hungover that day. I managed to make it home in one piece then I cursed myself for not collecting your number." They both chuckled slowly and Cherry studied his face. How could anyone look so handsome?  She thought in her head as she tried to wrap her head around his dirty blonde hair, caramel brown eyes and perfectly rugged but handsome looks. Control yourself!! Her inner woman raged at her. She didn't want to come off as too desperate or anything. Nor did she want James to notice that she was in any way attracted to him. At least not without knowing that the feeling was mutual. She straightened up quickly. "So where's your date??" She asked looking around for whoever James came with. James shrugged. "I came alone. I broke up with my girlfriend not too long ago. And she's the one I take to all these sort of stuff so.... " "Oh I'm sorry. If it makes you feel better I recently broke up with my boyfriend too" She added slowly remembering how relieved she had been when she broke up with her ex. "I guess we can bond over our new single status." James said as he signalled to a waiter and got himself a flute of champagne. He got one for Cherry too. "Well, I'll cheers to that!" She replied as she courteously accepted the drink. She had no intention of having more than a sip. That was all she wanted. "You're not drinking?" Jamie asked after gulping the last of his champagne, Cherry shook her head quickly. "Oh no. I have work tomorrow. Not to mention I'm driving." She replied slowly wondering how she was going to make it back home without getting pulled over for driving under the influence of alcohol. The alcohol was already making her slightly tipsy. She had already had one too many glasses of champagne. "That's Okay. I can drive you home though. One glass won't hurt you." James said with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Cherry declined instantly, but changed her mind when another waiter brought another tray of cocktails. Before she knew what was happening she was on her third glass and she was already having so much fun with James. They talked about their job, their family and a whole bunch of weird random stuff that came to their mind. And when it was time to dance, Cherry was so tipsy that she had actually asked James to dance and she showed off some of her sweet dance moves that she rarely did. After a long fun filled night, Cherry finally decided that it was time for her to go home and James told her that he would walks her to her car. "Jamie. I need to go home. I need rest. Plenty of it" She whined as she tried to walk in her ridiculous heels. During the course of their conversation, he had revealed that a few of his friends liked to call him Jamie and Cherry decided that she preferred Jamie to James because she knew too many James. "Just give me your address Cherry and I will drop you there."  Jamie said. At first Cherry mumbled a string of incoherent words before finally repeating and repeating till she got the words right. Just when she was about leaving she stopped him. "Wait!!!  What about Old Betty?" "Old Betty? Who is that?" Jamie's expression changed to confusion. "Old Betty is my car! I can't leave her alone!" Cherry cried out as she started walking in the direction of her car and Jamie gently dragged her back. Jamie chuckled and shook his head. "I can't believe you named your car Old Betty" "Well she is old. You should see her." Jamie looked hesitant, but thankfully she wasn't drunk enough to forget where she parked my car as she showed him. "Wow that's an old car" he muttered. "But it's okay. I'll call Joey to pick it up. He's my driver and he should still be around here. I'll tell him to drop it off at your place tonight. Lemme just hand him your keys and text him you address. I'll take you to my car." She nodded carefully and smiled. Another step in her impossible heels was killing her so she decided to take them off. She was instantly relieved as her feet hit the cold gravel. Jamie led her to his sleek black Renault and put her in the front seat. "I'll be right back Cherry" he said as he winked and left. She remembered nodding her head before drifting into wonderland. Cherry left for work very early in the morning, still a bit mortified that she had allowed herself be brought back home by a stranger and she had little recollection of it. Her mind went back to last night. She had woken up in her bed under the covers. Still dressed and safe and a note from Jamie inviting her for dinner whenever she was free. With his number too. Her cheeks blushed furiously as she tried to imagine whether or not her drunken self had created a lot of havoc. And how Jamie must have seen what a mess her apartment was. She pushed the thoughts out of her mind as she decided to focus on work. But she couldn't really stop thinking about Jamie. He was so hot and she found it more weird that a guy like him would be attracted to her. She was just plain Cherry. With the too pale skin, short height and curvy body. Not even the hot kind of curvy like Kim Kardashian or Tyra Banks. She wasn't sure he even liked her that way and she didn't want to get her hopes up. He looked like a wealthy handsome man who was most likely used to dating certain types of girls. A guy like Jamie couldn't possibly like her. She convinced herself as she went back to work.
