Christian Reyna and Alejandra Rodriguez were born in the same city and grew up as childhood friends in Minnesota and later fell in love as teenagers. They eventually recognize each other and the fire of their love is rekindled once again. They embark on a secret and forbidden love affair between Man and Vampire. Jesse Clark, an equally high-ranking agent for the humans who is envious of Christian finds out and informs the humans about Christian's activities. Diego De Paul a wicked and crooked vampire who Alejandra is betrothed to also catches Christian with her and reports her to the "Cardinals". The leaders of the vampires. Christian and Alejandra are both warned and threatened but they do not heed the warnings. They are excommunicated and hunted down by their respective sides amidst the ongoing war. They then come together to expose both Diego and Jesse's plans to use the war for their own personal gains, while trying to stay alive. They succeed in reconciling both sides and temporarily ending the war. Christian eventually turns into a vampire as Alejandra has to bite him before he bleeds to death and they live happily ever after.
