I spent a year in Venezuela without speaking much Spanish. My encounter inspired me to write a short narrative. Living in Venezuela for a year is like living in a cat's life. Think of Barack Obama's hair in his second term as an example of how all the hardships and strains age you quickly. This can be seen on the faces of the locals. It's made worse by Venezuela's high heat and widespread lack of sun protection.
