Agathe Gleyzes is 24 and barely holding on to Château Gleyzes, her family’s century-old vineyard in Pomerol, France from being sold. Her father is gone. The medical debts keep piling up, the harvests have been bad, and the bank loan is nearly due. She’s convinced a woman can’t run an estate this size, and she can’t see another way to support her mother and sisters. So at night she puts on a mask, becomes “Romy,” and dances at a club in Bordeaux. One night a stranger asks for Romy, and the attraction is instant. Soon after, he walks into the vineyard as the potential buyer. Leo Vignes, heir to the powerful wine house Domaines Vignes, knows exactly who she is. Agathe swears he’s mistaken. She pushes for a partnership instead of a sale, and the tense negotiations slowly turn into something real. But Leo is promised to Delphine Renaud, heir to another wine dynasty, in an arranged marriage, and he can’t bring himself to tell her. Delphine doesn’t love him, but she sees Agathe as a threat, and when she discovers Agathe’s secret, she keeps it close and waits for the right moment. Leo’s father, Henri, is just as dangerous. He wants the Gleyzes name wiped off the label, and the reason goes back thirty years: Agathe’s mother, Alice, was involved with Henri until she chose Louis Gleyzes instead. Henri never forgave either of them. Then Leo catches Agathe coming home from a shift, still in her stage makeup, and he doesn’t walk away. She tells him everything and doesn’t apologize for a word of it. What she gets back is respect, and then love. Delphine strikes. A video of Agathe dancing is all over the village by morning, and Henri gives Leo an ultimatum: Agathe, or his place as heir. Agathe hears about it and ends things first. The sale collapses, and she’s sure she’s lost it all: the estate, her standing, Leo. At her lowest, Agathe realizes Romy was never the shameful half of her, just the resourceful one. And she decides to fight for Château Gleyzes on her own terms. At the harvest festival, a storm bears down on the last unpicked block, her family’s final hope. The neighbors who gossiped about her show up anyway and pick beside her. Leo arrives too, and when Henri comes to enforce his ultimatum, Leo chooses Agathe in front of the whole village, whatever it costs him. Alice finally tells the truth about the past, and Henri’s anger breaks. The harvest comes in dry. Weeks later, the sale becomes a partnership. The Gleyzes name stays on the label, her sisters’ futures are secure, and Agathe is named Pomerol’s first woman vigneronne, with Leo at her side.
