"Please forgive me," he said, his voice laced with desperation as he held my trembling hands in his. I felt my heart skip a beat, the emotions I had worked so hard to bury now bubbling to the surface. "No, Justin," I said, my voice barely above a whisper, but I couldn't hide the quiver in it. Suddenly, I felt a warm tear escape the corner of my eye, betraying the turmoil that raged within me. I cursed myself for letting my guard down, for allowing my feelings to show. "I can't live seeing you with that guy," Justin continued, his eyes narrowing with a hint of jealousy. "I feel so jealous." I shook my head, my resolve crumbling with each of his words. "Justin, you and I, it's impossible," I said, the weight of our past hanging heavily between us. "Please, Rachel, can you understand what I'm saying?" he pleaded, his grip on my hands tightening. "I love you." I opened my mouth to respond, but the words caught in my throat. Part of me wanted to surrender, to give in to the pull of his affection, but the scars of our broken relationship were too deep to ignore. "I know you like me too, but you're trying to hate me," he said, his eyes searching mine with a glimmer of hope. "No, Justin," I said, my voice firm, even as my heart threatened to betray me. Suddenly, he moved closer, backing me against the wall, his hands planted on either side of me, trapping me in his embrace. "I like you," he whispered, his breath warm against my cheek. I felt my pulse quicken, torn between the desire to push him away and the longing to pull him closer. The air was thick with unspoken emotions, the weight of our past and the uncertainty of our future colliding in a moment that threatened to consume me. ---------------------- If you want to know what happens next or what led up to this moment, I encourage you to give this book a try. @solialex_0909
