Noemi doesn't bother trying to escape as the only place where Angelo couldn't find her was his enemy's estate. Rising action: Noemi tries to atone for her past deeds whilst being her mother figure for Alessio, who had grown quite attached to her. Erminio, however, kicks against it vehemently as he starts to realize that his feelings for her never truly died and the sexual tension between them was nerve-wracking. He thus makes a deal with Di Angelo to get her out of his life once and forever. Erminio falls in love with Noemi all over again, and things between them change for the better as they realize that whatever happened between them in the past was in the past and nothing else.
