Braking The MoldUpdated at Mar 15, 2023, 01:41
Twenty-something-year-old Samantha is a free-spirited millennial who lives life on her own terms. She has a passion for photography and dreams of making it big in the industry, but her traditional family has other plans for her.
Her parents, immigrants who came to the United States for a better life, want her to follow in their footsteps and become a doctor or a lawyer. They see her love for photography as a hobby and refuse to support her dreams. Samantha's siblings have all gone down the path of becoming doctors or lawyers, and she feels the pressure to do the same.
Samantha's struggle with her family's expectations intensifies when she meets her high school crush, James, who is now a successful lawyer. She feels like she has to impress him and his high-achieving friends to fit in with their crowd. But as she spends more time with them, she begins to realize that the pressure to conform to their expectations is suffocating her.
In the midst of her family's expectations and peer pressure, Samantha faces a personal crisis when her photography project, which she has poured her heart and soul into, gets rejected by a prestigious gallery. She questions whether she has what it takes to succeed and wonders if she should just give up on her dream.
Through the support of her friends and a chance encounter with a successful photographer who believes in her talent, Samantha learns to break free from the mold and pursue her dreams. She discovers that she can still honor her family's sacrifices and traditions while staying true to herself. In the end, she learns that the most important thing in life is to follow her heart and find her own path.
