I’m an avid book reader who discovered my desire to read at the age of 9 years old. The first book I’d ever read was stolen from my teenage foster sisters room and it was obviously a Harry Potter book. After spending a full week consumed by that book my brain resembled a porous sponge thirsty for more. My foster home resembled a prison, I spent most days and nights alone with my book, and my sister. After a while my foster parents had started to realize they could take anything they wanted away from me, except for my two prized possessions. This in turn led me to be tortured in the only ways they knew how, which eventually shaped me into someone who lived each day surviving instead of existing. Years later I found an amazing man who completely understood every aspect of me, knowing my love for reading he urged me to write a book based off my life which leads me to where I am today. I don’t believe I’ll ever be someone who writes a top seller or ends up on talk shows because i’m ‘so amazing.’ I just hope my book is followed by at least one other person, and I can provide them the same escape that books have brought to me through the years.
