30-year-old librarian, Emily Harper has lived in the same small town her entire life. After her father's death, a former businessman, Emily devotes herself to the man's lifestyle and takes care of the local library in order to keep his memory alive. She escapes in the books, creating programs that get children and adults to love reading. Her life is predictable, until, one rainy afternoon, she accidentally uncovers a very real dusty box in the library’s archives, and finds a series of very old legal documents, hidden in a secret compartment, that show her father’s long-lost company, Harper Innovations, was sold to rival tech giant, Alexander Kane, a twenty-billion-dollar venture capitalist and the one (hot) guy that Hannah can’t shake. The news takes her by surprise; she didn't have a clue her father made a business-changing ruling before he died.
Head spinning, Emily calls Alexander, initially thinking he might need her help with the turnover of the company, or organizing certain documents or something. Alexander, a suave, debonair salesman in his mid-thirties, has a different objective: The last-thing-he-wants-to-do is fill out forms. Emily’s nerves get the best of her during a video call. Over the next few weeks, during their walks, Alexander listens as Emily shares the story of “the disappearance of what should have been the most beautiful day of my life,” and the two of them become unusually close.
Piqued by her enthusiasm, Alexander stops by to visit in person, ostensibly for a business meeting. Every visit is a fun get together, lots of laughs and stories. For while Alexander boasts of advances in technology and company expansion, he also converses with Emily about literature and her father’s legacy, often lingering a lot longer than required. Being the shy one, Emily is somewhat attracted towards Alexander’s warmth and lively charisma, and slowly realizes that not all billionaires are the same, and the man behind it all just wants to connect.
But as they grow closer, Emily’s issues with trust and fear resurface. She’s fearful that Alexander might be more attracted to the company9 (her father’s lifeblood and the last good thing she has) than to her. Emily confronts Alexander about his motives over a fraught dinner. A surprised Alexander insists that he does really love her. But Emily finds it hard to trust him, especially once she learns about some complications toward a sale of the company — legal wrangling and fiscal challenges that could threaten its legacy. Trapped between trust and fear, Emily takes shelter in her together. And when Emily witnesses the lengths, Alexander went to in order to pay respects to her father, she’s deeply touched.
Finally, in the showdown Emily faces her fears and her history, learning that she needs to accept her insecurities and the legacy of her father. When she has finally confessed her love for Alexander, she does so in the laughter and best-golden-age-dance-montage of the community gathering.
old, reliable world of books, closing herself off from Alexander.
Emily fading makes Alexander think about things and he realizes that he has strong feelings for her. Resolved to win her back, he organizes a literary event at a library that brings their small town
And with every obstacle that they encounter to mix their worlds, yellow posts or human beings, their love grows stronger, realizing the love is just like the literature that can throw bridges and write new stories. The two are at the library together at the end, the future promising love, acceptance and meaning.
