Violet Smith has been living under a false identity for the last twelve years, ever since she witnessed the violent murder of both her parents in her childhood home. She clings to her safety net of mundane rhythms and lack of a social life to lower her risk of being found out, as she has for her entire adulthood. Her one and only friend, Gwen, sets her up on a blind date with Zander Gaines, insisting she amp up her social connections. Zander wastes no time becoming a common presence in her life, but not for the reasons she originally suspects. As she navigates the struggle of expanding her friend circle, she becomes smitten for a newcomer to her small town, Rowan Lennox. She quickly falls for him and must grapple with the choice to let him in all the way, or keep him in the dark and risk the new relationship entirely. Simultaneously, Zander has his own agenda for Violet, and it doesn’t involve her new love interest, Rowan. Zander’s behavior becomes desperate and erratic in pursuit of his goal. Will Violet surrender and comply with Zander’s plans, or risk it all by choosing love?
