The Silent Guardian

He's been watching me for three years. I just didn't know it was to keep me alive. Elena Cross wakes up in a hospital bed with no memory of the crash that should have killed her. It's the fourth "accident" on that stretch of road this year. The other three didn't survive. She did  pulled from twisted metal by a stranger who vanished before the ambulance arrived, leaving behind nothing but a warm leather jacket with her name stitched inside the collar. She tells herself it's a coincidence. Then her new neighbor moves in next door. Kade is quiet, guarded, and impossible to read  and every time Elena's world tilts sideways, he's already there, gripping her wrist, pulling her back from blackouts she can't explain. He knows things about her he shouldn't. He flinches at pain in the exact places her own body is bruised. And every excuse he gives her fits a little too perfectly, like a lie rehearsed long before she ever needed to hear it. The truth, when it finally comes, is worse than anything she imagined: three years ago, in a night she has no memory of, Elena and Kade were bound together by something neither of them chose. Their lives are tied now his survival tethered to hers, hers to his and someone out there knows it. Someone who wants her dead, and has been trying for a very long time. Kade isn't her stalker. He's her shield. He has been for years, silently, from the shadows, without her ever knowing his name. But protecting her once wasn't enough to end this. And the person hunting her isn't finished  not until one of them is gone for good. Now Elena has to decide who to trust: the silent guardian who's lied to her for years to keep her alive, or her own instincts, screaming at her to run. Because the closer she gets to the truth, the closer death gets to her door  and this time, Kade might not be fast enough to stop it. Some bonds aren't chosen. Some protectors don't ask permission. And some secrets are only kept silent because the truth is far more dangerous than the lie.
