However, Tyler's jealousy ignites as he witnesses the growing closeness between Octavia and Chase. Torn between his duty to Eudora and his lingering love for Octavia, Tyler's indecision strains his impending marriage with chosen mate, Eudora. Soon Redwood town is under attack as an mysterious killer (shadowfang) is in town drinking the blood of innocence townfolks at night, the townfolks suspect the activities of werewolves to be behind the ruthless killings, and so they lynch suspected werewolves-- People with signs of lyncantropy on their face. Tyler finds himself in a precarious position as he has to work with Chase to protect the pack from both the angry townfolks and shadowfang. Chase shows his strength at every opportunity he gets, and some of the pack members secretly believe him to be a stronger Alpha than Tyler. At same time, Tyler suspects Chase to be the shadowfang and begins stalking him, but all he finds is Chase and Octavia getting intimate with each other at night. This fuels his resentment towards Chase as he vows to get rid of him from the pack. Tyler realises his mistake in rejecting Octavia, now seeks a second chance with Octavia, but Chase stands in his way. As tensions rise, the Redwood Pack is divided and outside threats creep into the Redwood town. Octavia must choose between Tyler, her fated mate and Chase, the lone wolf.
