The book depicts a Man eat man society where every one thinks he or she is a predator but might end up as prey.The book even tries to capture topics on politics and religion in the coastal town and the problems facing many small businesses in a city where they conduct their trade as antelopes in fear of the municipal officials as lions. The street urchins are busy in the streets waiting to pounce on any bystander and steal from them. The victims with the help of other dwellers run after the street thieves to kill them under mob justice rules. Everyone in this city is trying to make a living whichever the means and one may either be the prey or the predator depending on the circumstances. Young mothers return home early in the after a night full of uncertainties trying to feed their families. The salty city predator is a book that highlights a man eat man society with leaders like Jabari trying to fight for the poor slum dwellers but is assassinated. The novel is also a source of hope stories of many successful street urchins and slum dwellers due to their extraordinary talents and determination are these victors are celebrated all over the country. All these men and women of exceptional talent are later snatched away from the salty city by opportunities abroad. The whole book ends with a street urchin our main character who has lost hope and tried committing suicide and could not go through with it. The lad sneaks into a ship and ends in the middle of the sea being judged by his biological father the captain of a sinking ship and is charged as a stowaway. I was hugely motivated to write this book mostly by the trials and hard time I and many of my close friends have undergone. I wish to inspire any who reads this novel even though the tests there is always hope. Unlike any other story, the book touches on the burden religion and politics has placed on the ordinary citizens yet the citizens willingly participate in this unfair ordeal.
