“I should let you go, huh?”
She shook me and pulled me back by my hair, allowing her lips to come close to my ear as she whispered.
“If you know what’s good for you, you should just kill yourself now while you still can because your life is only going to get harder as the days go by, you murderer”
When she was done speaking, she pushed me away from her with a hiss. I landed face first in the water as she walked away. I couldn’t turn around to see her but I knew that she and the rest of her clique were leaving. I tried to get out of the water but soon found that I couldn’t.
Like there were leaden weights on my legs, I couldn’t raise my body out to leave the lake. It was bad enough that I had already swallowed some water from the encounter earlier but the truth of the matter was that I couldn’t swim. I raised my head above the water as I tried to get out but found it impossible.
“Help, someone help!”
I screamed as loud as I could which wasn’t really loud given that I was swallowing down quantities of water that was going to put an athlete to shame. My head bobbed as I struggled to stay afloat but it was like trying to grasp a needle with claws.
“Help!”
My throat feeling raw, it was getting blatantly obvious to me that there was no help of any sort coming. It had been a long 6 months of fighting my demons and I was done. I closed my eyes and allowed the peace to wash over me as I succumbed to them.
