Nunzio Russo’s The Maestrale Voice could be defined as a painting, rather than a novel. His vivid descriptions include all aspects of the reality of those days, never forgetting the wonders of that land. This novel is not only the story of a pasta plant, but also the story of the families that gravitate around it; the background of a country that went through war, governed by the Fascist Regime which, in that land kissed by the sun, has merged its interests with the ones of an obscure power: the Mafia. Totò è il nipote del barone di Mezzocannolo, ucciso dalla mafia. È anche un industriale del sud. Quanto ha ereditato è tradizione, e dovrà difenderla come ha già fatto il nonno dalla violenza del principe di Granata, il fondatore del paese, il padrone di tutto. I tempi cambiano e la dinastia del principe si estingue, ma il male resta ed è sempre lo stesso. Il Sole sulla Terra si camuffa dietro accattivanti sembianze e diventa ancora più pericoloso. Totò Musumeci combatterà fino alla fine, nella certezza che dopo di lui qualcuno continuerà a percorrere la strada delle passate generazioni. E quel giorno, la voce del maestrale sarà il grido di un popolo che conquista la libertà.
