My best-friend is my boyfriend’s lover.Updated at Feb 21, 2025, 12:25
You’re my first love” Mustapha smiled, his eyes contorting into a line. Patience is indeed a virtue, he had rizzed Somadina for a year and half, despite her consistent refusal and snubbing. Some of his course mates considered him proud but it was beyond pride; in-fact it was not even pride, it was the self awareness that came from years of soul searching, he knew he didn’t have the looks all that much but he had the endearing personality and most definitely he knew how to treat a woman- something many men could not boast of, younger or even older. He did it genuinely and effortlessly. What lady would not fall for such quality?. It was his third year in the university as a Law student and her first as a physics student. Somadina had never dated any man in the past not even when her friends from secondary school dated a couple of guys and she gets to go for dates as third wheel, very content.. Funny how some of the boys from secondary school stole from their fathers- rich, comfortable and poor just to impress the happening girls in school but interestingly, none of this moved Somadina. She knew she was beautiful, got a lot of advances from even teachers but it was the least of her concerns. Just who was this persistent Mustapha of a guy? Even when she knew she was clear cut out rude, he still did not give up. Normally, it could be quite disgusting for a lot of girls when a guy will not give up like a toilet fly after-all they are all the same, like an eagle would patiently wait on its prey, some boys would wait in disguise just to hit especially when there is a good prize at stake but she noticed he did not get angry, his smile didn’t wane at all, instead he would be sweeter the next time, oozing so much confidence, there was something about this one that seemed, genuine? No, they are all the same, his game is just cleaner. At some point, he suggested she does him the honor of being his friend, of course that was fine but gradually she realized she was not comfortable with Mustapha talking with other ladies for too long, flashing his fine dentition to other babes. Or even when girls asked her about him, she felt a tightening in her stomach.
“He’s gonna be my first,” Somadina told Aisosa, her best friend from childhood. “Finally, wow this is good news. You’ll be fine, he seems like a really sweet guy to me” Aisosa said as she put the last ingredients into her concoction rice, then she faced Somadina to continue her speech plus full attention. Now she noticed the look on Somadina’s face, she knew that look.. “What is the worst that could happen? If it doesn’t work out, you what!!?” Somadina laughed feeling a bit relieved as she finished Aisosa’s statement. “Meuuuvvvee!” An inside joke, growing up Aisosa had an aunt that westernized every word ever since she got back from Tennessee, just a week she stayed there, she got back and forgot how to sound Nigerian. Aisosa hugged her best friend. “Any guy that breaks your heart, will answer to me, feel me ?” Somadina grinned, if she wasn’t grateful for anything, she had to thank God everyday that in this cruel world, she was blessed to have this fine young woman she had shared a bond with, they both feared heartbreak.
Mustapha knocked at Somadina’s door, she let him in. He had visited a couple of times but it felt very different, knowing she had officially consented to being his girlfriend. Her first boyfriend. It was a very big deal how she had tried to knock him off but she realized she was falling harder. It was a Saturday morning, she just finished her laundry. He had called to inform her that he was just ten minutes away.
“Do you really love me?” Somadina looked different, like she was letting down her walls, he was not looking at that thick headed girl who had turned him down a million times, her eyes were soft and pleading. “With everything in me.” He was looking for the best words to relate how he felt and make her comfortable at the same time. Then they talked for a while about school, her business as a photographer, family. Then he leaned in to kiss her, she didn’t hesitate, he said he loved her and she believed him. He slid his hands between her legs. Surprisingly, she didn’t only yield but she lifted her dress but he noticed she had her eyes shot very tightly. “Hey, you ok?” She was a bit shaky as well. “Yes Moos, it’s ok, go on.” He felt something was not right but not to ruin the mood, he did not poke, instead he traced her body with his soft manicured hands. Agriculture is going extinct, nobody really does things to harden palms around here anymore. His hands felt warm and it did help her calm her mind because yes he was not wrong about his intuition, Somadina’s mind was running like chaotic horses in a tournament. He kissed her neck, she liked the tinge so he kissed her neck some more, this was his specialty. No not just hickeys, making his woman feel all the love there is to give. The atmosphere was all steamed up and he yanked her unto h
