I am Isaac Agumba. I was born in 1996, and both my parents died just a few months after being born. I lived with some distant relatives, who beat me up so badly I ran away when i was 4 and lived in the streets of Oruba, Migori county, Western kenya, East Africa. My only sister endured worse unspeakable mistreatments, but not for long for she too ran away when she was 5 and I 4, and disappeared never to be seen ever again. Despite all this, I was lucky to, through bursaries and well-wishers donations, and working manual jobs here and there, put myself through school. I shocked everyone when I graduated top of my primary and high school classes. I got called to a university in the city, Nairobi, but there was no fees and I had to drop out of school. I did several manual jobs in the city and managed to put myself through campus, and finally graduated top of my class after 7 years for a 4 year degree course (for I had to occasionally drop out due to lack of fees). The unemployment rates in Kenya are so bad and for years I couldn't find anything good to do. I did motorbike taxi and construction handyman jobs for a while, then luckily got a car sales job, paid on commission of around Ksh 20,000 ($200) per month. I did this for a year but kept on applying to random jobs online. I could apply to like 500 random job daily, believe me, but none came forth. I luckily got a job with some Kenyan Bank (for I did a Finance course) as a Sales Rep paid on commission on the amount and number of people you got who took up bank loans. I once earned almost half a million Kenya shillings (around $4,000) when I got a customer who took a big loan. I bought a car and got married at 24. I was the last in our family lineage and wanted to have a kid as early as possible in case....and the Ogutu name died with me. 2 years into the bank loans sales job, a scandal happened at the bank and they said I wanted to conspire to defraud or rob the bank (most bank robberies are wholly or partly inside jobs). I was fired. I became broke and stressed and contemplated ending it all. My wife cheated on me for I got broke, and I kicked her out. I applied for jobs but there is huge unemployment rates in Kenya as it is, leave alone for someone with a criminal history. I got broke and got back to doing motor bike taxi. I attempted to sell my car but no one wanted to buy it. It was second hand when i bought it and now it was in horrible shape, no one wanted to buy it even at a throw away $2000 price. I got a similar sales job paid on commission in January 2025, but in another city in Central Kenya. On my way there I got an accident with the car and nearly died. I escaped with some injuries and the car was completely written off. I went to the job and was paid around 200$ for the first 3 months, and zero afterwards unless I made a loan sale which isnt exactly a walk in the park. For 2 months I earned zero and quit, and went back to job hunting and doing manual jobs here and there. On 6th October 2025 at 9:30am, I decided I wanted to put all these stories of my life and many more, in a book. And so I did. I wrote my book and within 2 weeks, it was done and published. I called it Agush Nyang, a nickname my friends call me. (Agush from Agumba, and Nyang, a crocodile in my native Luo). The 480 page memoir, with over 100 photos from my life in the streets, to campus, to screenshots and leaked emails of the bank system from where they said I wanted to rob the bank and got fired, are all in this unforgettable read and book, that is my one, greatest, life's work. The book got very good initial reception and got viral in Kenya and beyond, and is now on all major global retailers. Google "Agush Nyang" or head on over to my website for the book, booksonline.lovable.com , to read the first 10 pages free, and find your favorite store links to buy it from, from only $3. Thank you.
