Blood of the WolfUpdated at Aug 11, 2023, 20:16
Thunder clapped in the skies above her head. Her heart beat faster with anticipation of the coming storm. She always loved storms. They had that power of washing the soul clean. She needed that. she felt dirty and broken from the past few years. Her mind was calm watching the lightning dance across the sky intertwined in the thunder heads as they rolled. She tipped her head twords the sky, her hair whipping around her in the wind as the first drops of rain began to touch her face. She felt calmer then she had in years, she was safe in the storms embrace. Finally home, finally calm, but still she had been on edge waiting for the next bomb to drop. Lightning broke threw the sky lighting the field almost as if daylight had broken threw the darkness. She felt something almost as if she was being watched. More like she sensed something. Her eyes scanned the field in front of her searching over the humming grass as light broke the darkness. It felt like something was down there but the darkness swallowed the tree line. Something was there just out of sight. Coming from the house behind her she heard a cry. A small babe inside the house cried needing her. Her heart sank slightly having to leave the comfort of the rain she so badly wanted to embrace, but he needed her. She promised to return to the embrace once he was settled and headed back inside to comfort her little one, they had been threw the hell too.......Meanwhile a man was driving threw a small town. Windows down in his truck enjoying the smell of coming rain as the thunderclouds rolled in the dark skies above the moving vehicle. The road was empty as though everyone else had gone to seal cover. His wolf spoke inside his head-We could just run home. It'll be fun in the rain-"I'm not leaving the truck two hours away from home. Just stick your head out the window and shut up"-Can't. You're driving.-"Then just pretend" A run would have been nice but he wasn't in the mood to have to come back for the vehicle. A scent blew in the window carried on the breeze of the storm. He couldn't pin point what it was, but it drew him in. He couldn't get himself to continue on, he had to find it. He turned the truck off the pavement onto a gravel road, it was like he had little to no control of his actions and was being pulled to it. -What is that?-"I don't know."-Let me find it. I want it.-His wolf was panting inside him pacing. The scent was having the same effect on him."Just wait."He kept fallowing it until the road couldn't get him any closer. Parking the truck on the side of a hardly two lane gravel road, he fallowed on foot into a tree line. The scent was sweet and earth, better then anything he had ever smelt. It was like an old memory teasing at your brain, making you feel calm and happy, but always just out of reach. The rain was heard hitting the trees before he could feel it and suddenly the scent was gone. It was missing as though it had never existed and his heart sank and pained from the absence. -Let me find it! We need it-What was that stupid wolf talking about? He'd reached the edge of the tree line and was about to enter a wide open field when lightning split the skies bringing spectacular dancing light into the darkness, illuminating what had been just out of the eyes reach. There she was, just standing there, face twords the sky. Burning Auburn hair dancing around her, dark green shining threw the dark. A tiny frame so calm on top of the hill. Almost like she was calling the storm to her. -Need her- his wolf growled. Her head snapped down, scanning threw the dark. It was like she was looking right at him as he stood swallowed into the shadows of darkness. There was no way she could see him but it felt like she was boring into his soul. -Need her-He saw her flinch, her head spinning twords the back. Her shoulders dropped almost in sadness or disappointment. It made his heart skip a beat and throb as tho he had felt her own emotions. Faintly a baby's cry could be heard as she turned slowly twords the house, casting one last look to the dancing sky, and she left vanishing out of sight. His wolf let out a painful howl that broke threw his human control.-Need her. Get her!- he screamed throwing himself against the mental barrier."Who is she?" he whispered into the darkness.-OURS!- his wolf screamed breaking another howl threw the barrier, but this time it was both their pain.He stood there awhile in the rain hoping she would appear but was blessed with nothing. Sleep did not come either after returning to the house. His mind was locked trying to understand what had happened. His wolf continued fighting for control, trying to return to the spot. The further he drove away the more pain they were in and he couldn't figure out why or what had happened. His mind was flipping and racing trying to figure out who or what she was. His wolf seemed to know, but couldn't compose himself enough to elaborate as he just growled and screamed.
