The real world is... a lot sometimes. Books are my escape from reality. By day I work professionally making romantic fairytales come to life (a thoroughly awesome job), but in my free time I read about different and more interesting worlds. Occasionally, stories develop themselves in my brain and sometimes I write them down for fun. I hope you find reading them as entertaining as I do writing them!
*Thank you so much to my readers! The Fire series has turned into so much more than just a passion project for me. It has evolved into so, SO much more. I thought the story began with Eve and Lucian (Re: Fire Sparks), but as I wrote, I realized theirs was merely the middle of a much longer, more exciting tale! Here is the beginning... the TRUE beginning!*
Malkin doesn't know why people keep asking "what" she is... she's just Malkin. Sure she managed to live in the woods until she was nearly nine on her own, and, okay fine, she is more powerful and knowledgable than even the eldest witch or wizard in the realm, and... you know what? It doesn't matter. Her resume isn't something she really wants to talk about.
She also doesn't want to talk about the handsome prince that's been going out of his way to share his affections with her.
And she CERTAINLY doesn't want to talk about her oldest, and dearest friend, The Soul Claimer... why would she? He's more like an energy, anyway. An incredibly attractive and interesting energy... STOP GETTING HER SIDETRACKED!
What she does want to talk about is how she helps so many pour and unfortunate souls... oh? no one wants to talk about that? Huh.
That's okay. Malkin will keep her head down and stay focused on her work. She doesn't let negative comments get to her. She knows better. As her good friend, Anvil, once said- and has said 93273598 times since,- "Monsters are not born, they are made." And she will NOT become the monster they think she is.
She simply won't.
She won't.
Right?
Book 2 (Prequel to Fire Rises)
Maeve is many things, but a monster she is not. Okay, fine. Maybe she is. It really depends on who you ask. Those that would argue she was a monster were likely listening to the wrong recounter; according to her, at least.
Either way, her reputation has earned her a lifetime of imprisonment in a realm far darker than any mortal's most haunting nightmares. In a past life, she had been powerful. She had been awe-inspiring. She had been a dragon. But now, in this new hell, she has nothing more than a name to build a new life upon.
As she struggles to find a balance that will secure her crown and appease the cruel inhabitants of her kingdom, she discovers a new motivation: love. No- not love. That isn't a strong enough word. This love is deeper than she'd ever thought possible of feeling. A love so passionate that she is pushed past lines she'd never fathomed crossing. A love that might just keep her dimming spark burning deep within her.
Eve has lived her short nineteen years of life imprisoned in the Dark Place for crimes she didn't commit. She spent her days questioning just what justified punishing her so inhumanely on nothing more than the merits of her mother. With suppressed powers and evil prowling around every corner her and her brother Lucian had been forced to do some truly sinister deeds all in the name of living to see another day.
She isn't evil, though... is she? She suddenly finds herself freed from this hellish prison with the weight of every other descendant's fate riding on her shoulders. With a sexy prince, a full belly, and a new friend everything should be just the way she imagined, but she can't seem to shake a sinking feeling of apprehension.
The longer she stays, the more she begins to question everything. When secrets long forgotten surface, she and her ragtag band of miscreants work to unravel the intricately woven web of lies that plagued the mortal realm.
Follow Eve through her journey of passionate love, friendships, and self discovery in this whole new world.
