The story begins when four friends, all businessmen or professionals get together and buy an old mansion set in the Eastern Transvaal, South Africa. The mansion is very large, over one hundred years old and is part of a huge maize and sorghum farm. After six months of autumn and winter the farm has yielded nothing. The men had ideas of turning the farm into a guest and holiday getaway, but after a few visits to the farm they realise it is going to cost a great amount of money to make it livable. Two partners pull out and want to be paid out for their shares. Jason the main protagonist does not have the money to pay them out. One day when he went to visit the farm there are a number of rural people all dressed in their 'fighting' regalia, leather pieces to cover their fronts, feathers, large swishes made of animal hair, assegais and fire brushes. They were about to set the place on fire because there were evil spirits surrounding the house. In the basement of the house are a number of skeletons which the owners only find long after they purchased the property. Two members want their money back for their portions. Jason has no idea how to find this money until he finds his legacy beneath the house. He is now so excited but realises he cannot mention it to anyone. he has to find a way out of the situation, but who can he trust and he has to find a solution quickly before he loses everything.
