Sarasu, an investigating journalist encounters a kitten from the Dwarf Galaxy, which wants the love story of Mr Karuppiah with Ms. Lakshmi and Ms Sarasu, to be written.
The story: Karuppiah takes up the job of tending the king's horses at Thirumayam fort, after the mysterious death of his grandfather as replacement. Lakshmi the daughter of the priest at the Perumal temple loves him. The king organizes their marriage and elevates them as treasurers of the Ramanathapuram united kingdom.
The king gives the couple the secret to opening up the cave treasure. The king and the queen were poisoned to death by the illegitimate claimers of the kingdom. The legal heir Kattayya and his wife Sethu, along with his sister Ahilandam and her husband Sasivarnam flee to Tanjore kingdom for asylum, with Lakshmi and Karuppiah. Sasivarnam fights a tiger and kills it. The Tanjore king provides them army to defeat the illegitimate claimers.
Kattayya gets back his kingdom and bifurcate it and give the Sivaganga territory to his sister Ahilandam and Sasivarnam. Lakshmi and Karuppiah serves the united kingdom to progress it. The illegitimate claimers murder Karuppiah and Lakshmi. Sarasu commits suicide after migrating the Lakshmipuram people to Sivaganga.
The galaxy kitten resurrects Karuppiah, Lakshmi and Sarasu and enables them to open up the cave treasure, and restore the progress of the united kingdom.
Ahilandam provides the migrant community a place called Ahilandapuram at Sivagangai and rehabilitate them. On each full moon day, Karuppiah,Lakshmi and Sarasu meet in their resurrected body at Ahilandapuram. Kitten takes over the responsibility of progress of the united kingdom. The resurrected Sarasu visits Lakshmipuram each full moon day and sings songs of praises of Karuppiah and Lakshmi.
